Really, the forum has had a change for the better, and is fixing itself at the moment with the MODs cracking down on the real junk. Of all the things that could be done to Apollo, this would be for the worse. Leave Geek culture alone, the MODs are working it out.

What Apollo and the TGC could really use now is more games being made, and a new showcase that I've heard will be comming. After all, I come to THIS forum because I program in DB and DBpro, and want to see other games programmed in it as well as show off my own.

The forum is good as it is. Currently the Mods aren't too strict at all, quite a bit of mature discussion gets by. Things like religion, politics, evolution, and obscenity are forbidden because nothing good ever comes from posting threads about such things. People get offended when someone discounts something that they believe in. Discussing religion and politics is useless because nobody will change their mind, it will only be a venting contest between users, the end result being that everyone is hating each other and complaining to the Mods that someone should be banned for going too far.

I've never wanted to post something and been unable to because of the rules. Lots of people should spend more time making games than trying to make posts, then they'd have something useful to talk about.

Hehe, I didn't mean it in the tone that you are thinking

Quote: "Jeku said earlier that more 'mature' members would/have threatened to leave etc."

I didn't say that--- are you mixing me up with JessT again?

Anyways, the people who are pushing this are missing the point of this site. Go to the Microsoft forums and tell me if they have open boards that allow you to debate religion and abortion. Go ahead

Let's all go to the MS forums and demand they open a forum for such topics

thats just stupid, do you guys not understand how unproffesional your idea sounds, this is a site for game dev, not just lollygagging around, true geek culture has become like that and its okay but a new board for that makes TGC look unproffesional and is frankly a waste of time. What is difficult to grasp about this?

There's this nice little thing called Google, you may have heard of it. If you go to google.com there will be this box in the center of the screen and you can type something like 'political religious debate forum' and click search and I'm sure you can find something.

If you are unhappy with the TGC forums you can always start your own.
Then you can do whatever you want. The Mods' Lounge is a necessity for us moderators. As has been stated the chance of Rich making this kind of board is less than 1 percent.Keep in mind that FPSC x10 just came out and he already has to deal with whatever boards are going to be necessary for that.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

Do any of the MODs know when the new showcase (not a board, I mean like the one on the site) will be up? Because it seems like they'd want to have an updating showcase on the site.

Look, see these threads:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=119176&b=2

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=119177&b=2

These threads WERE approved by moderators. So as unreal as it seems, the mods are "promoting" us normal users to read this spam crap. WE don't want to have spammers in our forum that joined today (12-3-07). If we have a board where you gotta be here for atleast a year, this spam crap won't come up for us regular users. I'm not trying to offend the mods, but I feel something should be done for 1+ year members.

You know what, Drew. I'm slapping you for 14 days for being a douche. You serve no purpose other than complaining and royally PISSING off the mods.

Next time it's a YEAR long ban.

We are not here to cater to your every whim. We have jobs and lives. You have been slapped and banned more than ANY other member, so consider it a privilege we even let you exist on this forum.

We are not perfect. Next time you complain about some measly threads that were approved by a mod by mistake, think about the hundreds of threads you NEVER SEE because we delete them before they're approved.

When 6 mods post in your thread, it's probably wise to take it as an indication that a ban, or barbie.com is imminent, and that a change in posting behaviour is in order.

Drew,
I had a quick look at your account searching for threads that YOU have created. Of the 62 threads that you have started, 19 have ended with a lock (nearly 1/3). That, of coarse, doesn't include all of the CRAP that you have posted in other peoples threads. If you want us mods to "promote" less spam, then then we should simply ban your account. I know that I would be in favor of this kind of forum improvement.

This may all sound very harsh to onlookers, but it's actually a good example of what to expect if you try to cheat the system and break the rules. Mods have to police this kind of situation for just ONE user, so it's no surprise the odd piece of spam slips through.

Just to let you know Drew (and to add to the number of Mods posting here), I was the one who approved those threads. I did it late at night when I was tired; I scanned everything in the waiting bin for profanity, porn, piracy, etc. However I failed to delete the offending threads. Maybe instead of taking that last 20 minutes or so each night, to help out and make sure that people are getting their threads posted and all is well (relatively) in the FPSC section....maybe I'll just go to bed instead.

KiethC, dont worry, it happens from time to time (approving something that maybe shouldnt, or whatever) You don't owe anyone any explanations.
