- Added the Underground. Nothing special there neither, you can pickpocket in the station, pickpocket in the underground or take the underground.

Sounds cool.

I'd totally kidnap an entire school if I could.

Ah! I just had an idea. Why not include achievement awards? That seems to benefit every game, if you get some sort of reward for an achievement like kidnapping an entire neighborhood or owning over 10 different cars in a single game or whatever. Just an idea, but it would certainly be an easy add to the game.

A big one, but it must sound absurd to you:

The map is done! The map is a mayor part of the game, as it is your main method of coordination and also crucial for a lot of things as for example, blackmail, instant transportation (underground, train) and locating buildings.

It totally works - on to completing the Underground and the Station now!

Nice . The map feature should make it a lot easier to navigate around. So did you say the "threat buildings" are red? What do you mean by that? And did you ever get timer based things in yet?

"Selected" . I tried to record this while having a cold in a sleepdrunk state .

Most things are timer based . Thanks to you, once again.

Great work, this looks to be moving along steadily!

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

Just after I was boasting the steady progress on Organized Crime, everything went wrong and I suddenly made rapid progress. Added two buildings today, the Gas station and the Motel. Things are moving forward to the combat system!

Finally, progress started on the combat system. I'll be simultaneously adding buildings and functions and working on the combat, but basically it means things are working out greatly. I hope to have a video of basic combat up within a week or two.

Quick Update: What first appeared the hardest part of the project, notably, combat, turned out rather easy. In exactly two 6-hour coding sessions, combat has been tackled and is now fully functional.

Added getting arrested, jail handling, lawyer hiring for high reputation and balanced jailtime according to crime, reputation and similar. Also created a simple function to set up battles against the now fully functional computer combat AI - which was too good and has been dumbed down according to reputation (ie they get smarter as you get further in the game).

I've decided to not yet do a video of combat. I guess that until I've got some nice models for the gangsters, it would only be slightly confusing. I'm also integrating the sound effects for the combat - ie authentic gunshots and punch/slash sounds.

I think except for some buildings and some modifications to combat to do multiplayer, the menu screen that allows you to select your option for the current turn (Stats, Combat, Vendetta), revamped notification screens, and some revamped models to replace the current placeholders, Organized Crime is done.

A final update is that I've decided, in cooperation with MISoft Studios, to possibly release the game under MISofts flag for that little extra bit of visibility and aid in modelling. Of course, if I find another capable modeler to do me some stuff that would animate in DBC, I would be very interested in your services (although unpaid for - I can only offer credits and a place on my MSN list, lol).

The models I'm looking for are the buildings, a gangster with a white and a black texture, a cop, a normal man and a child - the humans would have to have a limb on the hand to which I can connect a weapon (actually, I'd prefer if it would be one or two models with textures instead of all different models), and they need to have a walking, melee, gunfire and death animation... It's a lot, and I've discussed with Matt some help from MISoft, that is, unless I get someone else because MISoft has a lot of their own stuff...

I might also have Gil, Ian or Thomas independently and honestly review it for the Untitled before which it is released.

I think March or April would be a realistic estimate for the release of this, in my humble opinion, pretty entertaining multiplayer title .

Rami was so kind as to allow me to play a demo of Organized Crime, and it's quite interesting. Sorta like a board game from a first person perspective with added RPG elements. I think it will be a very fun experience to play this title online with other people. I wish I could try it again but he gave me some time limited version and didn't have any time to try it again. Now it's bedtime and I must drive to work at 7AM >_<

Sorry I didn't get to try it again Rami, been busy today, but again, I like what I see.

But how am I supposed do that when you're always blackmailing me?

I've also had a chance to play OC (Rami uses me as his guinea pig for multiplayer ) , and like Agent Dink said, it's a fun game, a lot like an advanced virtual board game .

Untitled 4 is done and available in Geek Culture, so, where was I again. Ah, Combat is fully functional, and I'm adjusting it to also support multiplayer. Harder than I thought, especially since I want to be efficient with packets.

In any case, everything is still far ahead on schedule so I won't complain .

Casino is done, with Blackjack and Roulette as playable (text-based) games and Poker as minigame that has little to do with poker .

Sounds good . I say you should eventually add a visual aspect to the games just to make them more interesting to play .

Heh, I think it has to do with the problem of having nothing but a girlfriend, problems with divorcing parents, a social life, hours-long MSN conversations, a job, a few game projects, a game magazine, lots of forums and normal human needs: just too much spare time.

Whoa... double-post - something went wrong with editing there. My apologies.

To make this post a bit more useful, I'd like to note that I'm still having some problems with combat and multiplayer, and to answer Gil: yes, if I get the time and resources, I'll add a visual aspect to those minigames.

Well considering from where I'm posting, and where you're posting, it is currently the wee hours of the morning. Why do you choose to commit yourself to so many things?

I'll answer for him: He's insane. He lives in the Netherlands, yet sleeps to the American time schedule, which means that I can make fun of him all day .

I'm like that. If I don't have enough things to do or commit to, I bore myself. If this is life, I'm going to use as much of it as I can.

And what Gil said.

Well, I'm hoping to continue with additional buildings later this week. The combat multiplayer problems are postponed until I finish that.

All buildings are now finished. I must admit that I've spent surprisingly little time on working on Organized Crime, but I'm definitely finishing this thing. Just slower than hoped - MiSoft had some delays in their schedule, and I was hoping to get some modelling help from them (or anyone else).

How come I've never noticed this before... Weird.

You know that I can help out with modelling don't you Rami? I'm willing to trade models for media, as I said before. As long as you don't need anything uber-complex, I'll help out.

Let me check with MiSoft what their current status is, and I'll get back to you later - I might accept that offer, as long as you don't need anything ubercomplex neither .

Lol yeah. It just depends how busy I am. At the moment I'm trying to sort out my student loan and a whole bunch of other things, so depending on how everything goes, I may or may not be able to make some models for you.

I hate all this Uni stuff. It's very stressful and covered in paperwork.
