Greetings all. This is a 1 level game for the FPNonS level contest wich is sad that it fell through, but I still feel I'll post it. It's a total work of satire though could have gone a more serious rout. My humor is a bit dry but I hope you find some of it funny. I call it 'Miffed' as it's about a man that slips and falls down a garbage chute. I warn you that this is unlike any thing I've ever done and definitely not to be taken as a serious work.

lol nah points not to cheat. But there is a trick to the answer. I guess my hint was too vague. It's a number combo puzzle, it has to do with the symbols being projected.hut, snake, tree, door

thanks I didnt know any other way to get the message across about a bug and still make it part of the gameplay.

BTW did anybody catch the special guest?

Well, Snake does need a relaxing dip into the lake once in a while...

Anyway, did anyone beat the game without cheating?

ok here are the clues thus far-
*Number puzzle
*projection displays a hut,a snake,a tree,a door
*Where have you seen these objects before?
*how could this be associated with a number puzzle?
*where could you possibly input numbers?

I know it was rushed, ha to get back to Emboca.

I jumped into the water and couldnt get out. So I went over to soild snake for a chat. Then I couldnt end the game, I pressed f12 about 20 times, then I pressed Esc, but nothing. So in the end I had to hit Ctrl Alt Del, as Ctrl Shift Esc wouldn't bring up the task manager. After that I got an error and it sent me back to the menu with an error.

for those haveing trouble with escapeing the program some patience must be exercised. propper way to exit-
press esc, choose no not touch flickering square, this brings you to the menu, press do not press flickering square and it will bring you to the decryption shot. press f12. done. most people have the bad habit of pressing esc multiple times to get out of a program.patience.Ctrl Alt Del is disabled for protection purposes. Vishnu2 will fix this problem.

as for getting stuck in the water, yeah thats my bad as the end was rushed just to finish it off.

Quote: "dunno what to do with 'c' hmmm"

thats just info for an fpsc bug.when useing the teleporters sometimes you cant climb stairs, jump , or move without pressing crouch first.

Quote: "Seems that there are some secret buttons to use with the keyboard in this level ... "

yeah I should have had a 'use numberpad' appear but as i said it was rushed.

this demo wont be up long, ugh

Nice game d13 downloading it now.

As for vishnu there are some bugs and issues that are being fixed for vishnu v1.6 and some new features.

Vishnu v2 is an ongoing project that will be ready when its ready but v1's are still being updated.

No just this build, I accidentally used the 1.4 version instead of the 1.6 version wich doesn't do this to Vista.
Quote: "ack, I just realized I used the wrong exe. I used Vishnu 1.4"

This mistake was pointed out only 2 short post above yours. So no attacking Vishnu on this directly or indirectly.
It was my fault not Vishnu's. Vishnu is an excellent product who's creators do all in their power to improve everything they can almost at a moments notice. Vishnu 1.6 does support Vista and does not do this.

game tap is a service that for a monthly fee lets you play games from the past and present, well some games from the present. Wish they had a venue like this for independant game creators to make money off a service that sells use of the game for a few months, then when popularity dies out on it it becomes free to play. It would encourage episodal game creation, so shorter games that continue a single story would be released. Oh well I'm rambling again.

just played the game d13 love the little details everything from the book on the title screen to the sound of being teleported at the start of the level was accurate to the Myst games graphically this game is really one of the best fpsc levels I've seen with large areas with little to no slow down and the swimming man is a nice touch but on closer inspection he look a bit like solid snake from metal gear maybe you should make the tile he is standing on invisible so it looks more like his swimming. while I'm could sing praises about your custom graphics I afraid I’ve got some constructive criticism first the level design I stuck I wonder around the level with out a clue as what I supposed to do in a way this is very accurate to myst but one of my real complaints is that when you fall into the lake you don't die so you could respawn back at the start of the level instead you get stuck and have to quit maybe you should put some invisible walls around the level to stop people falling into the lake apart from these small flaws it’s a highly enjoyable fps level and just makes me want to get my hands on your cthulhu game more

@tyrano man- I did get your mail with the pic of the level

@small fish- I did want it to be as cryptic as Myst, not totally as cryptic, but somewhat. I remember one puzzle ,the last one, of Riven where you were supposed to have remembered all the freakin sounds each animal you saw in each age throughout the whole game. This one isn't that hard, lol. OK Since I'm taking this one down soon I'l do a walkthrough( and no not just jump from platform at the top to the next, lol)

*when you arrive, look at the inactive teleporter-its projecting 4 symbols. They are purposely drawn primitavely to fit with the Myst style.
*take the elevator down, now you can see a series of huts, hmm looks familiar. Also you see trees, hmm yet again familiarity strikes. In the second one of the huts you see a green eyeless snake(yes I just got lazy), This is starting to get real familiar. And last but not least something that seems to be a door, and how odd it looks similar to the primative drawing projected at the starting point.
*As you make your way through and explore you find another snake under a bed and another in a hut.
*When you finally get down to the last hut there is an inactive teleporter, A console, and yet again the projection of the Hut,Snake,Tree, and Door.
*I guess I should have put up an hud object asking the player to input on the keyboard but at last moment decided that it wouldnt be very 'Myst Like'.
*So If the player were somewhat observant they would have counted -
-6 huts
-3 snakes
-7 trees
-1 door
But if the player was really observant They would have seen good old Solid Snake, (barring the player has enough gameing salt to know who Solid Snake is)and count him in with the snakes making it a totals of 4 snakes (yes I know, feeble attempt at humor and trickery)
*So one would stand on the inactive teleporter and use the numberpad to input (as indicated by correct and non correct beeps)-
6,4,7,1, wich activates the teleporter and brings you right above where you started from.
*Now you see the other inactive teleporter...well active now, wich brings you to the center platform suspended by iron girders so that you can view the level in its entirety from above.
*go up stairs and use the last teleporter to end the game.

As for not dying in the water, I tried a death zone but it would only work 15% of the time. Plus Iwanted you guys to see SNake up close, but know this he is nothing more than an SAS body with a Specialist head and the goggles and head shape altered to look like Solid Snakes head. I would distribute him but I fear it would be a violation of the AUP since it comes from model pack1. As for getting stuck after teleporting, thats what the warning during the loading screen was about-'If you find yourself getting stuck on the woodwork blahh blah blah. Just my way of integrateing a glitch as a feature.
