I meant both. They're both very important and set the mood for your game.

Review:

Overall, not bad for a first game. The level design gets a little sloppy towards the end and it feels a little rushed. The waterfall idea was actually really good! The game runs really smoothly, but there aren't very many reasons why it wouldn't.

Entity Placement:
Not very many entities in the entire game, which would most likely be why the game runs smoothly. The gibs flying at you didn't really scare me, but it was a nicely implemented effect.

Segment Choice:
Using the same segment over and over again kind of got repetitive. If there were defined "rooms" in the game, then it would make a little more sense, but it just seemed to twist and turn back onto itself towards the end. Another problem is the lack of a ceiling on the last section. Whether that was intentional or not, it didn't come off as looking good, so I would stick to putting a roof on there.

Lighting:
The lighting overall made it look pretty good, but the green light became a little annoying because it was a little bright and it was in every corner. If you change the light to a darker color or change the color completely, that should be fine. Also, the lights didn't seem to be coming from any where. There weren't very many light sources in the map, but there were a lot of lights. Instead of using the unlit lights for the ones that you have in there now, use the lit version of the same lights.

Enemies:
Good choice of enemies, but one hit kills on them made it a little too easy. The enemy towards the end of the level when you're in front of the sign was a good placement. It made me jump a little bit, because I thought I cleared out everyone... Give the enemies a little more strength, but not too much to where you can't kill them with the ammo that you have.

Weapons:
Having one weapon in the game was ok. I wouldn't suggest adding more until you have a couple more maps in the game. Also, make the ammo pick up for it a little lower, because I want to feel like I have to conserve ammo and not just run around shooting where ever I feel like it... Less ammo makes for a better horror game, because once the player is low, he/she panics and that adds a little bit on to every other scare tactic used in the game.

Overall: 7.0/10

Well, I hope this review was in-depth enough for you. I hope you can be able to take this advice and use it to make a good game. Note that I didn't try to bash your game in any way, and if it seems that I did, know that it was because I was pointing out things that could be fixed, and not saying "Haha... Your game is bad...". I hope to not be known for things like that.

If anyone else would like this in-depth of a review for their games, email me. If I get enough emails, I may start up (I know it's been done before, and they almost all fail, but I want to do one anyway...) a review site for FPSC games and demos.

Hi, Its been a long time since I've been in the Forums. I just wanted to know if anyone would like to hear about my Scifi/Horror game. I've just bought model pack 9 for it, anyway here's the story...

On an unknown planet a zombie virus has been unleashed, you the marine is sent to investigate. Whil you are there you find Zombies, survivors and something just to try to scare you. Juring your presence there you pick up the virus and turn into a zombie and acidently kill back up, but you can change back.

p.s: Hope to start Development soon, also the game will be called MAYHEM.

Hey Matt96, it would be best if you posted your own thread instead of taking up others space. This is there place to show off their games, so try to keep to their game. Also, wait until you have some screenshots and other stuff before posting. Read the stickies to find out more.

Are they an entity? If so, use the page up/down keys to move it, or hit "Return" or "Enter" to place it on top of whatever is in the editor.

Set the thing to Static Mode as "Yes". That should work. Also set the Physics On: "No". That should fix the problem.

Try leaving it as a dynamic entity, but set physics to No. That should work.

I just played the demo, and it was much better than the first one.
Things I would work on:

Optimize the room with the bars. The FPS fell sharply there. Also, I wasn't too sure why it was there. Yes, it looks cool, but it doesn't have a true purpose to the game.

Is there a story or something to this, or is it random horror? You have random horror down, I was just wondering if there was a storyline or not.

The lighting was much better this time around, but on things like the WW2 light after the room with the bars, it doesn't feel like it's giving off any light. There is a flickering light behind it, but in order for it to feel like it's giving off any light you have to put lights on all the sides of it.

Try to find a new water decal, because with the low ambience, the rest of the level looks good, but the decal is kind of out of place.

Great use of giving the player only the ammo he needs and nothing else.

That's all I could find in a single play through. Better than your first try by a long shot, but there are still things to work on. Keep it up.

I played this demo and I thought it was great! That first scream reminded me of playing re2. But I also saw that the bars room was alittle low on light. I found that if you take yellow, orange, and red and use the light1.fpi it makes for a great looking fire light. Also I think that maybe you use that music from your title screen for the background, I think that would add that fear effect a little more. You had me thinking of house on haunted hill also. Add something to make think you saw something like that ghost script I saw on here some where, But you don't have to listen to me since I'm noob. Keep up the good work.

you are a scientist who studies the supernatural
events that people report.
your in your lab one night doing some tests
when one of your employees come to say that there is
another assignment.
they have found a old abandon mansion that supposily is haunted.
every thing seemed fine there,
untill you and your group of scientists
here some groaning coming from a air vent
so you go check it out.

you find out that the original owner of the mansion
had put a curse on the house via his dreams.
the only way to lift the curse is to awaken the
owner from death and access his dreams to lift the curse.
in his dreams you have to find the right nightmare and
destroy it.
sorry for all the spelling errors.

this probbly sounds lame to you all
but i suck at writing storys
any tips on the story would appresiated

Tried the demo and it's actually quite good. Glad to see that you're putting sound to good use, the first scream where the cop appeared actually had me jumping.

The name and story sounds a bit cliche, but in total honesty, what horror game doesn't? As long as you can pull off the cliche with very good results, you'll be fine.

Just in case your were wondering, I still love the name and story. Sometimes being too original with the story can defeat the purpose. Your game is signaling to me that this is good scare-filled fun
