I bet it's the Cloverfield monster

Seriously though, I thought this was pretty cool, worth listening too if just to hear what the depths of the ocean sound like.

In my opinion I think we should do more exploration in the depths of the ocean rather than trying to get out into space. There's so much we don't know about the depths of our planet and who knows, there might be something of benefit down there.

Edit: blast, italics in subjects don't work. Mods, remove the italics tags if you feel inclined to

Probably random bubbles popping or some weird radio frequencies echoing or something... or maybe it's Buddha singing in the shower?

I do believe in sea monsters, however. Plausible if not possible.

I believe there are animals that we have never seen down there. For sure big ones, why not? Leftover dinos, giant squids, unknown whales. Makes plenty of sense to me

Did you read the CNN article that was linked to on that page? They say they aren't sure if it's whales or not due to how the sound waves measure or something like that.

Sure thing, we're only aware of so little, but I think space is the right way to go. Sometimes you need to go forward to go back.

I've heard that around less than 1% of ocean floors are unexplored, there could be anything out there. Probably dragons...

Nessie is the only one close to being plausible.

Too bad the whole myth was invented by a disgruntled USA'er in an attempt to infamise Scotland.

Technically you can't see them normally, it's so dark down there That's why they have the glowy things on their heads.

They have dredged up huge sea animals before, that were the size of the Loch Ness monster. It's not really a new thing.

Perhaps there are dinosaurs there, that survived the meteorite impact by moving down into the depths.....

Or maybe it's just a bunch of bubbles, eh?

People will always beleive Nessie exists: If we can't find her, people will assume she's hiding, and if it turns out that we do find her, then it will obviously be true anyway.

So there always be some people who are sure Nessie exists.

You should watch 'the blue planet' at some point. There were indeed numerous deep sea monsters recorded up close. I mean, yeah, they are just fish, but some of them seem reminiscent of Aliens. It goes to show that whatever lifeforms are crawling about millions of lightyears away could be nothing more than the equivalent to deep sea fishies on earth. Effectively, we have 'aliens' living on Earth. You just need to look for them.

And...who here believe that Pokemon exist? I mean, well, people are just assuming the voice is a Sea Monster...it could after all be a Lugia! (Yes I am strange enough to actually name a Pokemon )

I happen live 300m away from Loch Ness. I also used to work at Urquhart Castle, which I'm sure many of you will remember as being the hiding place for Nessie in the film "Loch Ness".

The only things hiding under Urquhart Castle are old packets of Maltesers in the store room.

There is absolutely no such thing as Nessie. Millions have been spent searching the Loch, there are sonar boats on it everyday as a tourist attraction, and not one compelling bit of evidence. End of debate.

Cool link, by the way.

I've seen pictures of dead underwater dinosaur/Nessie-like creatures before. I don't see why they couldn't exist. They're just rare. I dunno if Nessie exists or not, maybe she did and died in the recent years? Ya never know. I've heard of some land dinosaurs still alive in some African jungle as well, but I don't know how plausible their existence is isn't.

EDIT: Here's the pic I was thinking of. Some fisherman snagged this and ended up pulling it on board with their boats crane or something like that.

I don't believe in them, don't believe in big foot either. You do realize that there is like 8 different versions of big foot with different names. Its so dumb.

I dont believe in sea monsters either, I dont believe in the Loch Ness Monster either. He would be dead by now. Or the longest living creature still alive.

Yes, from different cultures all around the world. That might tell you something if they all have similar accounts of these creatures.

Yes and there are several versions of the Cinderella story. Stories might be based on truth and are exaggerations and others are just pure fantasy. Simple truth, Folktales that spread across the lands, so these so-called sightings could be derivative and then people just jumping on the band wagon. Which is fair enough because some storytellers will claim to have seen a troll.

That carcass of the dead sea monster, if I remember my documentaries right, wasn't that sitting on the sea bed and it had majorly slowed down on the decomposition rate? Or am I mixing up different documentaries into one?

Hehe, very true, now stop trying to ruin all of my childish fantasies! But still, either way no one knows. They discover new species of animals every day so it can't be ruled out.

Now I actually know someone who claims to have met AND talked to a bigfoot. Yes they can speak English... Now I don't put much confidence in said person's sanity, she is quite the oddball. But yeah it's a funny story LOL.

She said a bigfoot came to her window in her backyard moaning for help because he was lost. It was morning and he couldn't find his way back home to go back into hiding all day. He was worried he'd be caught and captured by humans. I guess she told him how to get back to the woods or something completely ridiculous like that.

Again. I hold no confidence in this account of a big foot sighting.

That woman is weird...

So you're saying, a tall hairy guy with big feet went up to your friend and spoke to her...hmm very suspicious... I saw one of those types of guys (dunno what size his feet were) in WHSmiths reading a naughty magazine and grunting, if it's the same guy I'd be concerned for your friend there.

My theory is that stories of bigfoot probably arose from some unlucky bastards in the past with that disease that i somehow forgot the name of, the one that makes you really hairy. Those people were probably banished and the rest is history.

I hope you mean the mantel, because the core is a hunk of iron.

As for Sea Monsters, no. I don't believe in monsters, or that any species really fits the definition of monster. As for the likes of big foot, every doc read or I saw that went into claims that could be investigated was false. It could be based on fact though. Large hairy people that got shunned by society are pretty easy to believe in. I'd rather make up a creature and my own mythology than believe in ones I don't think exist to begin with. I think mythological creatures are interesting enough without being real. It's true though that as early as the 1500s a very small version of the homo genus (aka another species of human) was living in Indonesia (I thinks that's where). I can pretty much say I know though that there are undiscovered things in the ocean. I couldn't say how many big things though. It's highly unlikely there are tons of giant creature's roaming around near the bottom, seeing how great the pressure is, but I wouldn't dispute it. After all, giant squids exist. I honestly don't know how close to the bottom they live though.

I'd love to go into all sorts of thing about why rational thinking is really important, but if I remember correctly, that touches upon some peoples beliefs and will drag us into religious territory.

Well, if we're going into the whole sea monster thing, I probably wouldn't define anything as a monster either (unless of course Adolf went swimming in the Ocean, then I suppose you could define that as a sea monster) because a monster suggests a cruel nature, not necessarily a gigantic one...could you not then call a Whale or a Shark a monster, no because both (yes, even a shark) can have quite a gentle nature.

Unfortunately I've never been diving, but from watching Nature documentaries, it become very difficult to say an animal is a monster, they used to say it about Gorillas (that's how legends like King Kong arose) but we've proven they're gentle natured. So if we were to find a large animal in the see that appears vicious, monster wouldn't be my description, especiallly if they feed off of plankton.

I only called them sea monsters for fun, of course they are just animals.

And that person who saw bigfoot? No, not my friend, please don't call her that! She was an employer. Not really someone I'd even want to consider being friends with

Anyway, did any big hairy men get a promotion or raise when you worked for her? Because if so, I think Bigfoot might have been the pet name for one of her partners.
