make sound from memblock seems to be bugged for certain sound formats.

The attached demo:

1. loads a sound
2. creates a memblock from it
3. plays the sound
4. creates a new sound from the memblock
5. plays the sound.

The program crashes at step 4.

DBPro versions 6.6b and 6.7 (and several earlier versions).

I've never seen it work either. I tried to make a chat program using sounds in memblocks. It was either no sound or random crashes without error messages.

Unpredictable certainly - but not impossible.

The bug only affects certain .wav file formats. For example, the attached file is the same sound but sampled at 22.05 KHz - and the demo works.

I'm sure Lee can figure out what's needed to get the other formats working (or to get a clear statement in the Help file saying which formats ARE supported by the memblock commands).

I just tried this and it seems to work fine:

I'm guessing this was fixed?

This might be the sound bug that Lee fixed at the last TGC Convention - while the rest of us were paying attention to the presentations Lee was enjoying himself bug-stomping.

We need more conventions.
