I'm trying to make a fireball like effect in a 3d scene. does anyone know how to do that? I've tried using particles but I can't get the hang of it.

easiest way would probably be take a sphere and place an animated fire texture on it, however particles would look better. I haven't used the particle commands but if you change the size of the fire emitter and have the particles dispersing in a radius around it, it should look pretty well!

A way to do it would be to make a picture of a fireball and texture it onto a plain that is always rotated to face the camera, but there are some problems with rotation commands, and this probably isn't what you were looking for anyway.
