ahaaa so the "invisible" bit is invisible even in calculations ... I believe it's more of a convention rather than an actual bit, am I right ??? thanks A LOT for the code IanM !!! you're a life saver !!! now I'm learning about octals and hexadecimals also, your code made me use for the first time bitwise operators btw: why are certain threads like mine, labeled with a red folder icon ??? I never got that what does it mean? thanks a lot !!!

So where's your gun?

Don't worry too much about it - that's the whole point of these forums. Now anyone else who wants to know about floating point numbers has the chance to find out from this thread.

The red folder on a thread just means that it's got a lot of posts in it

ahh overfull thread huh? and I don't have a gun hopefully I'll buy one and use it for good if I come across more problems like this one anyway, for serious now, I REALLY think every language should focus at least 10-20 pages of their basis with an introduction to these kinds of things, explaining the underneath concepts of computations, numerology, etc. having "your first spinning cube" tutorials is, in my opinion, a very misleading fact which makes newcomers think they can actually code ... if I (a game designer since 2003 and I feel SO embarrassed ) came across things such as this, I don't even wanna imagine what problems can a true beginner have ... and the fact that I myself don't know this stuff is due to "smart" tutorials made by language creators .... for 5 years I've been focusing my whole attention to the game code, principles, etc. without even knowing what I was giving birth to ... man I feel like the mad doctor who created Frankenstein and when I say this I don't mean DBPro ... I mean ALL other game engines ... every developer now wants to attract the market, sell his product with idiotic things such as "no programming required, no experience needed, not even a single like of code", etc. ... hell next thing you know you'll create games using vocal commands anyway, thanks a million !!!
