Here is a new showcase boss character for you fantasy games, the Ice Wizard. He forces you to fight him within a certain distance, if you try and get too far away he will freeze you with his ice beam and rush in and attack you while you are helpless!

This is a complete solution for a boss character. All animations, scripts, sound effects, and hud's are included. While you are frozen, you can look around, but can't move, until the wizard breaks the ice.

Anyways VERY inventive. It looks and plays great. One question. What happens when you kill the wizard or he dies before he comes and unthaws you?

Oops! That's my fault, Vimeo sets it as "private" by default. I changed it to a public. Should work fine now

He has a custom destroy script, so you get unthawed automatically if he happens to die while you are frozen. Of course, with a specialized character like this there are some ground rules. It's best if the player only has access to a short range melee weapon. And he also works best in a 5x5 room or larger.

Brilliant, just brilliant. I'm buying a lot of your stuff from TGC store and I'm amazed at the quality of your models.

(The wizard's voice needs to be a bit deeper I think. Also, I know you can make your character's mouths move, would be great if you could get him to move his mouth when he speaks )

Fully speaking characters are definitely the next step. My "utlimate zombie" has nearly a full facial rig. The mouth, as well as three different lip controls are built in. The only thing needed would be controls for the eyes and eyelids. TGC has the technology to automate the actual lip syncing with their Dark Voices product. I'm willing to bet that it will eventually find it's way into FPSC.

Hey thanks again everyone.

I'm really falling in love with the idea of selling tailor made, pre-scripted characters that include everything as a complete package, that you can just drag and drop into your game as a boss character with no further work required to get a great player experience.

Of course, you could also tweak him to behave more to your liking, but it's not necessary. But for this character, for example, you would probably want to increase the damage of the ice attack, to really force the player to fight the character within his "zone", or else risk a quick death. I just kept the damage low for illustrative purposes.

First, I do a build game of my level. Then I go into the setup.ini and add these lines:

width=1280
height=720

Then I run Fraps and set it to capture full size video. When I'm capturing video the aspect ratio on my screen looks a little off because my monitor isn't 1280x720, but that's ok, it will look perfect in the captured video.

Then I import the Fraps video into Windows Movie Maker in Vista, and save it as a 720p wmv file. I upload it to Vimeo, and it automatically displays it in HD.

@Orrion Carn: If I get a bit of free time I'll post one of the multiple attack melee scripts and explain what's going on. Although, if you've purchased one of my melee characters in the store, if you take a look at the script I've added comments that explain what each line is doing

You guys are gonna love this model, I'll upload him to the store probably tomorrow.

This guy is cool because he definitely has an attack pattern that you have to figure out. He wants to fight you at close range, so your first instinct when he gets too close is to turn around and run away to put some distance between you. But as soon as you do...BAM! Ice beam to the back! And he's all, "Where do you think YOU'RE going?" LOL.

By adjusting the PLRDISTFURTHER and PLRDISTWITHIN values in the script, you could make him even harder to fight, and make the fighting area very tight. Really force the player to time their attacks and test their strafing skills.

Teh only crit i have is when your "Frozen" the character idle animation is still played, you probably cant fix that, but yea just thought id point that out if you havent already noticed bond.

We'll have to see. So far on the store, most of the egyptian characters only have 1 or 2 downloads each. And one of those downloads is from Rick for testing purposes. So right now, it doesn't look like spending any more time on that theme would be a good use of my time unfortunately.

And everything will be made X10 compatible eventually, as soon as it gets melee support.

But that might be because people who are interested in the Egyptian characters already got the model pack. It seems to me people will get the model packs with the characters. The same goes with the fantasy characters. Only 2 on the cyclops but 12 with the gray wizard.

If you get mad and want to type something nasty about another person do this-Type what you want to say in the box then press ctrl-a and hit delete then type what you should say.

Do some modern day models bond, I really love your stuff, but your ice wizard hardly fits in EOT I would love a creative boss character for modern games. Maybe with special pistol whipping attacks, grenade throwing and such if possible. Your MP1 guys are cool, but they don't have any sweet moves like the wizard and such.

That's true, and something I've taken into account. I guess I shouldn't make this assumption quite yet, since the store hasn't even "officially" been released yet. If those characters are popular, then I'll certainly make a few boss versions.

Simon Benge did MP1. But yeah I wanna do more varied boss characters now, rather than the same old characters that hold weapons and shoot the player. The ice wizard was a lot of fun to put together, and I'm looking forward to do even cooler stuff.

The pistol whip idea is very doable (and very easy), and think how cool it would be...he shoots you with a colt 45 like a standard FPSC character, but if you try and bum rush him and take him out at point blank range, THWAP! In fact I would probably try a 3 stage attack: grenades from a distance, shoot player at medium range, pistol whip at close range. And before anyone says "it can't be done", never say never. Just so much to do, so little time...

I'm stuck at work for the rest of this week, but I'll get the ice wizard and my new zombies uploaded middle of next week.

Bond, I can't put to mere words how amazed I was when I saw this. Not only is it an awesome model, with great animations, attacks and effects, it shows that FPSC has developed quiet a bit since first release. Awesome scripting and modelling, dude. Keep it up!
