I was wondering how many people on these forums are actually aware of me. We have those regular forum members like Jeku or Benjamin whom everyone knows well, and no one is suprised when they post. The thing is I'm here almost every day (yah, sad, I know), but usually I just read. Some times I go on a posting spree but generally...no.

So tell me, is my user name familiar to you? How familiar am I to you on a scale of 0 to 10?

Please don't lock, I'm really curious about this. Does......anybody....know me?

I'm rubbish with names, but I think I do. Mainly from your avatar picture. Hope that helps...

And I wouldn't worry about it; I've been using the DB forums for 8 years and it sometimes feels that way.

We know who you are, so that's a good thing, but the worrying thing is, I don't even know who I am - perhaps if you could help me out with that, it'd go much appreciated.

Dunno about that. Up until very recently I pretty much put DB programming on hold for about half a decade, but I only left the forums for about a year or so during some dark times (2002ish). We come for the coding, but we stay for the massive amounts of intelligent conversations that go on here Also people changing user names doesn't help. I seriously don't know who you are until I see your sig. Really, I'm terrible at names. More than once I've run into a bird (lets say who I was "friendly" with) and I couldn't remember their names. One time she didn't remember mine either (probably lying, as I am great ) so we shook hands and parted as friends. Shame really as she was pretty fit, got drunk really easily, and if I remember from between blackouts, pretty good in other areas. Still don't remember her name though. Sigh, I loved Uni...

Cheers

I agree with NeX, and while I've only been here for about a year(EDIT: 2 days from my TGC first year hah) now I have really come to like this community in general as the people are always nice(not including trolls) and it's a secure place to get critiques and some time just to show off. And it doesn't have that many noobs

If someone says plz because it's shorter than please I say no because it's shorter than yes

Same to be honest. I don't program in DB at all anymore, but I still hang around here for some reason. To answer OP, yes I remember you.

Thats cause you post in the DBPro area. Over in the FPSC boards we get so many newbs. Seriously every 2 days we get people asking
"What can FPSCreator do"
And some people talk in txt speak. Its really annoying!

We've talked several times before, I know you.

However, I'm fairly certain most people who don't know you wouldn't post in this thread, so that's not saying much. However, the amount of people that do post in this should say something.

I won't ask how many people know me though. I already know. I lurk in the dark shadows of my cave, hidden, and only come out for feeding on the life force of my victims, all of which, sadly, have crossed my path at one time or another. I'm now down to one pot of coffee, and must feed again, and get some coffee.

Cheers,

-naota

PS: I call my self many different things. My real name (Aaron Miller), my "sig" name (Naota), and, of course, the name I used to have.

Wow, thanks for the replies! I feel special now.

In answer to the questions, yes I made Patriotic Particles and Vegetator and Extreme Animal Furrrenzy (sig), although that last project died because there were tough bugs to fix and I was having trouble getting it up to commercial quality. But thanks to everyone who complimented my projects.

I have to agree with whoever said that this is a board where intelligent conversation takes place. Sure, we get the noobs, but that's what makes it funny...and we also get the legendary noobs that everyone talks about for years.

Wow, when you think about that, it makes you realize what our lives are like.

I know you - or rather, know *of* you, though until this post I had no idea what you'd done.

On the other hand, your projects are bigger, better and more numerous than my projects so despite my not knowing much about you, you are almost certainly worthier of being remembered and known about.

*Checks post to make sure that last paragraph made sense*

I never got past the trial versions of DB. But as soon as I came around here, I got hooked on the 3D section, and the intelligent conversations that occur in this section. This is just a great community, whether you program in DB or not

There's always the odd person or two that are away so long you think they've died or something... then without warning, they return like a mexican to the boarder to let in the other 15 members of his family with the promise of freedom.

Leaving everyone to wonder if this time the person is gonna stay or if it's like an old friend just passing through on their way to somewhere else. With the focus being on trying to remember if you even liked the person enough anyway that you're not sure if it'd be better if they stayed or went away again.

All you know is you recognise the face but can't exactly picture the name, knowing that in time it will eventually all come flooding back for better or worse.

Then again I can hardly talk given I've only popped in to say, welcome back.
