Lol, actually, that is the funniest thing I've heard in a LONG time, mind if I place that on my Facebook list of favorite quotes?

I think you will have a harder time getting people to RSVP when we don't know anything about the event itself. I know I won't, it's to dang expensive. Otherwise I'de be booking a flight to the UK for their convention.

Also, I assume no ones received a response from TGC on whether this may possibly be an official convention? I personally think chances are rather slim, but's it's worth a try eh?

Why have booths? If I'm not mistaken the official TGC convention in the UK has everyone in a room enjoying each other's company and watching presentations by the TGC dudes. There's no booth action like an E3 or anything like that. Of course I've never been so I might be wrong.

Agreed, there simply won't be enough people to host enough tables, and if there are, it will take that many people away from the main discussions. Best to remain with a main event/discussion or two, and a some good presentations... Lol, and perhaps a drawing for a TGC voucher

It's easy. Dividing by zero = undefined.

Explanation: zero can not go into something because nothing can not go into anything simply because it does not exist.

Anyways, this convention this isn't a bad idea, except that prices are so high you may get only a few attendees.

My signature is empty.

If it does not exist, how are we referencing it?

On the issue of Booths,
We get 10 free ones. They are included in the overall package for one room.
The first 10 people to lay claims to them will get them.
The rules being you must post what content you plan to have in your booth.

Ninjasoft Games has one of the booths. so there are 9 left ready set go.

As far as what events and stuff will be at teh event Im not sure yet. Right now I am worried about the location. Phase 2 will be content.

There will be a slight charge for the booth. I will announce it when we get the price for ticket and all that.

Prices coming soon. I am trying to contact the owners of the building and see if I can get a discount. I am also looking for sponsors. So I will have prices out asap.

Here is the official list of people coming:

MichaelS
TaylorL
Beast E Gargoyle
david w
PUNK13
Danial Wright
Heltor

If your name is not on the list let me know.

Some people don't think God exists, yet he's still referenced. Some people think evolution doesn't exist yet it's still referenced. So maybe, zero does exist. Lol.

1) Booths WILL have a fee. I just dont know how much yet.
Once I get a solid price I will let you know.
I dont want to just randomly make a price up I want it to be relevant. That way we can afford the space we use and I dont end up on the streets haha.

But I will put you down.

The location deters me from wanting to go. I've been hoping to go to a TGC convention in England for years now, but if I do, it would have to be planned strategically so I could catch an Arsenal match, a few tapings of some of my favorite BBC shows, etc. I wouldn't just go for the convention itself, but for the entire UK experience (no, this does NOT include helping Dazzag move, lol).

Kansas City... I'm sure it's a lovely place and all, but it isn't exactly on my "list of cool places to visit." In my humble opinion, it would be better situated somewhere that people could make a proper vacation/ holiday out of it. Like New York, or Los Angeles, or... ahem... Vegas . The convention wouldn't occupy all of my time, and I'd want stuff to see and do while out and about. And since I'd be taking time away from work and going through all that trouble to go, I may as well bring my girlfriend along, and there's no way I could get her to sit through a presentation about Dark-something, lol. IE, she'd want stuff to do as well . The wheels seem set in motion for KC this year, but if you end up doing this next year, you should make it somewhere with more stuff to do . Somewhere the vast majority of people would want to go. Anyway, that's my $3.42

I wouldn't mind anywhere in California, it's more of a central location for many. I think if TGC ever ended up doing a convention state-side it would be either somewhere on the east coast, or in California.

Now Matt, don't be a snob. There is nothing more exciting than watching corn grow. And there is easily as good a chance of getting a TGC top gun to come to such a swinging place in July as getting an updated DBP help file. And if you play your cards right you might get free lodgings. I hear some company is running a constest where first prize is a week in KC, second prize is 2 weeks in KC, and third prize is 3 weeks in KC.

haha, that was actually the catch phrase for a photoshopped MD can I made for programming class. Our teacher requires us to have, "a funny graphic displayed on the first page."

he later told me that when he first saw it, he noticed something about the can that was different, but thought the phrase was something that was on all cans

Sorry but the location has already been decided.
Im not changing it.

Dont be so damn sterotypical. The OP is no different than any other area in the USA. There a lots of thing to do and it is highly developed.

lol

I'm sure Kansas City is nice Michael, but I think you missed my point: in the future, I think this should be held in places where people would want to vacation, since many of us would be taking vacation time away from work to attend. And if anyone in Europe (namely people from the TGC staff) were to fly across the puddle to attend, I'd assume they would want to make a vacation out of their trip as well, since there's a chance they've never been to the United States before. It saves everyone time, money, and jet lag .

Maybe we could have a rotational thing... next year it could be LA, 2010 could be NYC, and 2011 could be, I dunno, Chicago or New Orleans. This way, we won't have a hard time talking our spouses/ significant others into letting us go, lol. While we're at the convention, they could be shopping, visiting historical and tourist sites, sampling local cuisine, etc. And if we rotate them around the country, it makes it so everyone can attend a convention.

Or the more complicated and probably impossible version would be to hold three different conventions at the same time in three different cities, and have them all sync somehow. streaming video from all three events perhaps . But I'm getting ahead of myself as usual lol.

Oh ok I totally missed your point lol.
I was just saying where not going to have an argument on location. But yea I think having a different place each year would be great.
This year its in the big KC (well actually the OP )

The plan is for everyone to arrive a day before the start of the convention that way people have a chance to tour the area before hand.

The length of the convention will be most likely 3 days as its very very expensive to do this.

We will do it Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
So everyone will arrive Thursday and check into their hotels.
Then they are free to tour around.

What will probably happen is we will all meet up at like a restaurant and have lunch around noon Thursday. Then from there we will all car pool around town.
I have 1 car and Taylor has a car. So hopefully the people who do drive to KC will be willing to drive people around ont eh tour too.
That will probably go until like 5 or 6. Then we will drop people off at the hotel (Which has yet to be decided.)

Then the 3 days of convention.

The total cost for JUST the room space is $2,700.
So if your wondering where your ticket payment is going....there ya go .

and Daniel wright 2311 is covering $500 worth of it so that puts us at:
$2,200.
Then Im going to try to put in at least $500.
(This is just the space mind you there is still other expenses.)
So that brings us too,
$1,700.

I am going to see what special perks I can throw in for people who donate.

Ok so with all the price stuff up, who is going to bring what to the convention?
As far as content like things to talk about. New and upcoming games or stuff to show off and other big announcements.

And is there anything in particular people would like to see at this thing?

Since its a bit less than a year away we have a lot of time to decide. So all suggestions are welcome.

EDIT
------

I found a Holiday Inn thats 15 Minutes away. So you can get on the interstate and go strait from there to the convention.

Also they offer a big discount if we get more than 10 rooms

DOUBLE-EDIT!!!
--------------
Another possibility is holding the convention at the
Overland Park Sheridan.

I have to call the sales dept. on Monday for rates and deals and all that fun stuff but that's another possibility.

Ok so while I wait off to put together events.
If anyone wants to help let me know.

Well i know EpikLand if we get a booth would do this.

Have 2 to 3 high spend pc's with The Play Before you buy version of our upcoming horror title as well as have it for sale there. We also will hopefully have our mmo demo. We also want to have a speacal edition on anything we sell there like.
Buy a copy of Xtinction at the convention and not only get it cheaper but also receive a t shirt and player guide. Also some BIG announcements.

I have two questions.

1) its cool for us to bring someone who is family. Just to go with right?

2) Will there be video presentations?

oh and remember tell me if you need lighting effects i have a tone
Spotlights,strobes,fogers all that good stuff.

Yeah, no need for a big three day extravaganza or anything. I wouldn't plan how long it will last until you have a good idea of who is going to be making presentations, and how long they'd need to make them, calculating of course for breaks and stuff.

And i dont know if this is cool with everyone but you could get alot more money if you open it up to the public, like how e3 has developers and people who want to see new things. So maybe set the first day to Just Developers and announcements then the following two days charge admission for people to see and buy games and all that great stuff, im sure tgc wouldn't mind cuz it might give them more customers.

The thing is its not affiliated with TGC according to them. They refuse to endorse it. So this is a convention that will have people from TGC but has no affiliation with TGC.
Well for now I guess we will stick with 1 day for the convention.
Since its not going to be all that big of one. And it will just go like all day.
