Hello, everyone.I am back with a new game that will actually be finished *applause* and one that I'm actually working on: .caliber.The story is below:
{EDIT: Story changed, see below}

In 2009, the war in Iraq ended. No one knows why. No one knows how. They know that Osama is dead and al-Qaeda has been defeated. A terrorist cell in the US, codenamed ".caliber", has rose to power, buying guns and recruiting countless soldiers. These commandos are well-armed and extremely dangerous. The CIA has sent operatives on dark, dangerous, and life-threatening missions. One of them, George Campbell, was sent to the AE Corp. offices to investigate an explosion. He gets a radio tranmission from someone over the line saying that the office will be destroyed and that there are many bombs placed throughout the building. The radio was then disconnected. Arriving via armored vehicle, he lands up in the parking lot and must work his way up. Lives are in your hands; will you save them?

I know, another story change. But it's for the best. This is the official story, any more and a lock + 1-day ban will be sufficient.

^These above pics are old, new ones will be posted soon^

Screen looks good, if a little cluttered, now make sure you don't bail out on us, ok AI?

I won't bail out. I'll try and get a demo up whenever level 1's done.

This game will be separated into 4 parts with 3-7 levels each, making a total of ~12-30 levels.

That doesn't sound very realistic. Have you ever seen the movie "Heat", they stole millions of dollars and told the people in the bank that their money was insured by the government so they wouldn't lose a single dime. If money is stolen from a bank then "many" civilians wouldn't suffer. Besides, $29,000 is not a lot of money in that respect. I think you should re-think your story. Just my two cents.

@ OF: I forgot to edit the amount to about 3 million after someone recommended I do it. The bank wasn't insured (many questions will be answered in later levels). And no, I've never seen Heat.

@ Juzi: MP was my inspiration, but no graphic novels here. Thanks for the comment and welcome back thing.

Just curious, you did get mod approval for this post prior right? i seem to remember a mod telling you that you couldnt post a game here, unless a mod approves it first.

Anyways looks good, but i dont have my hopes up on you finishing, to be honest. it just doesnt seem likely. (But, dont let me get you down in the dumps.)

Also, screen looks nice, but its a tad too cluttered. and when you stack things like barrels and boxes like that, try and do them the same, if you have 2 barrels supporting 1 barrel like that, you shouldnt have the same exact design for the boxes right next to it...understand what im saying? it looks too similar.

How many chances does he get? I'm pretty sure this is like number 10. He's had his chances, personally I don't think he deserves anymore. If he had a level built already then maybe, but he doesn't, so he doesn't deserve a chance.

The orange light is the sunlight coming in from the window. Not sure how to make it look like it's going down into the room.

Just a heads-up: my freshman year of high-school starts tomorrow, and I'll have a lot of work to do. However, if I have enough time, I'll work on .caliber, okay? I'm telling you this now so that no one will complain and run to a mod to get this thread locked. I would like for, if this thread starts to get a bit old, someone to bump it so that I won't have to start a new thread.

Wish me luck,
~AI

That is what you just said

Yeah, exactly. If he's going to go 30 days without posting in this thread, he's going to go 30 days without working on this game.

The 30 day post lock is not implemented anymore. Hence the way we keep getting alot of 2 month old thread bumps.

I don't think the story line itself is too realistic, police wouldn't let a citizen track down a villain, that means they wouldn't be doing their job.

It would be better if it was him getting revenge. You can't trust no one. But your only mission is to track down those people and kill them. This means the police is a enemy. But also this means you can uncover the guys emotions instead of him being a complete sap given a gun to kill the gang. Watch the following films, to get some ideas..
Death Sentence
Man on Fire.

Jenkins, did ou even read what I just said?! I'm going to high-school meaning more work, less time to play (in this case, .caliber). Read before posting, you are really getting on my nerves!
Deathead, the guy's just getting revenge, the police are on his side, but also are not. The police is neutral about this whole situation, and they just let Campbell go on his not-so-merry way to kill all of those associated with .caliber.

Yeah I did read it. I'm going to high school myself, it doesn't take that much more time away from you.

You've been on my nerves for a long time so I could care less if I'm getting on yours.

The Police won't let a normal guy go and take down a gang. It is impossible. Unless he is a cop.. But considering he is a normal guy, he will have the police coming after him aswell as the gang.

Perhaps Campbell could be an ex-cop, know to them on the force, who then give Campbell a 'head start' before starting an investigation.

Can you please only post when you have some updates of the game? You always bump your threads with useless information that's irrelevant to development, it's a game design forum not a compare-homework-amounts discussion. If you spend less time telling us what homework you've been set, you'd have more time to work on your game.

I've got another screen, I know it's empty but it'll be filled. The door to the right (it's cut out of the shot) leads into the back room from the previous screen.

I like it... Only thing is that a few wooden boards on the ground might spruce the scene up. Just make them static.

Oh, by the way, why is there a warehouse here?

When creating a room, think about what would actually go in that room, don't put objects in just for the sake of filling it up. What I would do is google 'factory' then switch to 'images', this would give you a fair idea of what would go in.

Exactly, and be careful about the layout. For example, warehouses need large aisles for machinery to get through such as forklifts. In that last screen, you have barrels infront of the door you'd typically expect the machinery to come through, which isn't realistic. There would be a path specifically kept clear for that kind of machinery to get easy access.

In the game world, this large machinery pathway would probably be the player's path too, so make sure you design the shelves and scenery to the sides of this path in a way which allows for interesting combat from enemies or something, because you don't want your players to just run through the warehouse and forget about it. Overturned crates or enemies inbetween shelves could lead to unexpected combat which would keep the player on their toes.

Nice idea; I'll redo this room when I have the time.

What would be cool is if the enemy could try to ram you with a forklift, but I don't have any scripting or animating knowledge so that's pretty much impossible.

Looks good, I believe you will finish it this time AI...Jenkins...Not to be rude but its not your decision if he should finish it or not.

Though I do think you should have finished a demo before posing this, that way you wouldn't have to live through all the flaming.

Good luck man...

Hell I don't know. I didn't read your story lol. Just something that goes with your story. Surely your game won't fully take place in a warehouse?
