Hi

When The Dead Wake is a zombie game I've been making.

The demo attached is level one so far. It just needs some minor changes like lights ect.

It has no enemies in it yet because I would like to know if its a good enough level to finish the game. It will use Bond1 zombies. I currently have two.

Please download and tell me if you like it.

I will upload the story and some pictures in a minute.

I get an average FPS of 25-30 on my Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.93GHz, 1G ram and ATI RADEON HD 2400 xt

Yeah looks like a nice start. Definitely go forward with this, it's kind of dark, but then again its a zombie game. Lokking forward to your progress.

That one is very dark. Are you using a source mod? The kill ambient lights it seems and you have to use real lights to fake ambience. Even a dark light to show some detail in the buildings would be nice.

For that picture I was just using a fake bloom shader.

Thanks for liking my game. Hopefully it will let me upload the demo

I like what I see but everything is far too dark at the moment. Dark isn't frightening in games, just annoying cos you can't see where your going.

screen 6 looks better with the lighting, maybe just a tint of color to the light to add drama. I used very colored lights in my game, but mine is a cartoon game. You may want more subtle. Also for light placement, you may want to add a light fixture or something as a source for the light, because fpsc lights make like a gradated circle on the floor from the lights and it looks weird if there is no light source. I did leave lights with no light source in my game in the underground part though and used colored toned down lights that didnt look like a hard circle on the floor. It's just figuring out what looks right. No rules.

I think you have a great start. These are just tips from my experience making my game. Take it with a grain of salt.

Note: Added some blood to the zombie on the face, chest and leg.

For some reason it won't let me upload my demo, so I will try at an Internet Centre.

Does anyone else like it so far?

Looking good.

Your signature has been erased by a mod because it violated the AUP.

I'd brighten it up a bit mate, there's atmospheric, and there's blindness......

Although it's a cool feeling to be lead along on a creepy trip by the creator, don't forget, there's no point in you spending ages dsigning a top-notch map layout if no-one can see in it.....

Here's some advice

-Give plr some brightness, outside it is not pitch black unless ur game has no moon.
-Add some music and some noises.
-Add in triggeer zones that trigger an overlay that has a skull or something on it.
-Have some rooms filled with fire, a fair ambience, and have zombies walking around on fire.(I have done this and it works)
-Put in some obstacles, like vehicles or going through the sewer.

I am making a sewer segment for FPSC and if it works i will give it to you free of charge, you can test for me before i put on tgc store..

thx

Add some flashing lights, or something like that.

Lights are your friend! Remember!

Just have really dark blue, lighting, and make it flicker. Thats a good scare technique. and if you can add flickering noises to the ambience that'd be a hella scary game
