I've been really busy lately, but the time has come for me to purchase a windows-based VPS, or windows-based shared hosting which has SSH access and doesn't mind me hosting a game server on their server (so basically only a VPS, since not many free hosts allow that! )

So - does anybody know of some cheap and reliable VPS hosting (or possibly shared?), which gives the user SSH access, and runs on Windows, not Linux, with decent disk space and bandwidth. The reason for me wanting Windows hosting over Linux is that on Linux hosting I won't be able to execute a .EXE file (that .EXE file being the game server.)

If you know of any cheap dedicated servers then feel free to post them as well. I've been searching for days, but can't seem to come up with much.

Thanks!

Sorry to double post so early, but i've found a host with the following:

170GB disk space
2TB bandwidth (per month)
SSH Access
Windows, not Unix
They allow game servers to be executed
Modules such as FFMPEG and FLVTools are allowed to be installed.

All for a measly $8 a month, billed yearly.

Only downside? They don't use cPanel, they use some crappy panel of their own, which really puts a dent in this. I've become really used to cPanel, and for that reason I might not even go with the host above.

Are you kidding me? Get over it, for that price

Anwyay, that price seems too good to be true. There's no way they could afford to let game servers be hosted at that price. Additionally, If you want a vps with cpanel, expect to spend an extra 20 bucks/mo. I'm having trouble finding any cheap vps that offers windows hosting. Cheapest I found was godaddy's vps offers.

It's not just for BYOND you know!

Ahh, but their panel is so... just so crap, and so hard to manage and to work with. I probably will just get over it and grab that plan, but not before I Google up a lot of reviews on the host, since you are right - the plan sounds too good to be true.

EDIT: Went back to their live support and requested a different person, who basically told me that what the first person told me was all wrong, they don't allow any of those modules, let alone game servers! The guy was shocked when I showed him the chat log of what the other woman had told me.

Back on the hunt for me then.

I have a similar problem. Ive had this idea on making and online version of my FPS, One. But i have no money to spend on a game server so im going to have to go for a free one (if there are any). Let me know if you find anything.
