Hey guys, this is a small game that I made for class. It's a remake of Asteroids with a twist: A strong gravitational force in the center of the screen. The game gets harder the longer you play.

The game is entirely media-less, it has code-generated sound and (simple) graphics.

It's pretty entertaining, my highest score is 5800, try to beat it

Thought I was done with this, but I decided I wanted nifty particle effects. Here is an updated version (and a jerky video that shows teh particles and gravities).

Sweet. Gameplay is hard to get your head around- the no drag rotational inertia thing is unusual. I played kind of randomly and got 1100 points.

Thanks

Yeah I like space games where the movement is completely realistic, it's more interesting to me that way :p

Plus, the no drag allows for you to orbit the black hole while keeping a relative angle, which isn't particularly helpful to winning the game but I think it's nifty lol.

Spacewar! wasn't until 1961.

Ontopic: The game is alright for what it is. I think you should have the black hole actually destroy the spaceship, because I prefer to sit in the middle of the screen in Asteroids anyways.

Aye I was semi-inspired by Spacewar.

I thought about doing that, but wasn't sure, I think it would be too hard. Also it isn't really an advantage to sit in the middle because all the asteroids are attracted towards it.
