grrrr... I wanted to download the Left4Dead demo, im not going to say my age, but i am younger than the rating "Mature", and i put my actual birth date on my xbox live account so now its telling me that i cant download content with that rating, but like what do they know?! im completely allowed to play mature rated games, and all that kinda stuff so who the hell are they to tell me what i can or cant download?!!? thats up to my parents, not them, and my parents are 100% fine with me downloading content with the M rating and playing M rated games! So i called them up and told them that, and they said that they arent going to do anything because im not old enough, WOW! Anyone know a way around this (without creating another account)

dude if you really want a turkey sandwich, then make one, and make ham.sdaF?

Yes. Stop trying to play games that you aren't old enough to play.

Im allowed to play M rated games wether xbox likes it or not, they should at least make it where a parent has to enter a password or something, because if your parents allow you to play M rated games, then xbox shouldnt make the decision on wether you could play it or not.

They know whats better for you than you do, just wait until your old enough, if your parent's let you play M games, they really need to tighten up.

How offensive, Satchmo. It's none of your (or Microsoft's) business what his parents do.

Quite frankly, if I were you, I'd have your parents call and see if they can put down a different birthdate.

Can you just change the birthdate on your profile settings page?

not really, it kinda depends. Only the parent really knows that. As a general rule, I would agree, because there's a lot of parents out there who just don't care what their kids are doing. But I can think of several M games that I wouldn't mind my 16 year old playing. (Diablo 2, for example)

It's not any of mine, it's Microsofts, and by signing up for their online service you have to conform to their rules, sorry if I was offensive, but it's the truth.

It's no different from going into a shop, telling them you are 16 and then trying to buy an 18+ rated game.

If Microsoft didn't do this they would probably have to make sure all the download content was suitable for all ages so little Timmy didn't see something his parents didn't want him to.

It's like going into a shop with your parents and your parents buy it but the store refuses them.

If he has permission from his parents, there's no reason microsoft should deny him.

But that implies his parents are there, face-to-face, buying the item themselves.

Quote: "If he has permission from his parents, there's no reason microsoft should deny him."

Perhaps, if he could prove he had permission. I'm not saying you don't Frankie I'm just saying it would need to be pretty solid. I can't imagine they would just accept a phone call for example as it could be anybody on the phone, the same for email or any other kind of correspondence than isn't face-to-face.

Am I right in thinking there's a Left4Dead demo available for PC on Steam? You could try that.

Although I'm sure you've already setup a second silver account as I'm writing this.

Well what were you expecting? If they make you verify your age they obviously do it to find out if you're over a certain age. And if you know you're not and enter your real birth date you can't really complain that you're denied.
I just buy whatever I want in stores and such, people have thought I am 18 since a few years back. So I can't really complain.

The Left for Dead demo isn't really worth it. I found it quite dull.

I'm downloading it now through Steam. (I saw a friend play it, it look interesting, I saw him jump, so it might be worth it, multiplayer looks interesting too)

It might be just worth doing the Silver account thing, after all, you fell for the old "what's your age thing" (reminds me of a story a friend told me, when they were 15, they went into a bar, 1st round, 3 pints of Stella please, 2nd road, 3 pints of Stella please, 3rd guy with the 3rd round, a bit in the head: "Can I have 3 glasses of beer please?" And they get chucked out)

As for the whole, "your parents" thing, it's all relative, if you parents have brought you up well enough, then things like left 4 dead aren't so bar. I was raised up on Stephen King, Hannibal and Resident Evil. Heck there were some bloody horror movies that were 'cool'. It didn't effect me...or did it...BRAINS!!!!! Yum, what?

I asked them if they wanted to get on the phone with my parents, and they're response was "We cant do anything about it"

Its none of your business what my parents let me do and dont do. If it makes you happy, im not allowed to play games like GTA or Saints Row (Not like i dont, i still get them from family members and friends and stuff) But wether i play them or not its none of your business.

Really? I'll have to try it out myself, but that wasnt something i was expecting from it

Me and all my friends started playing GTA when we were like 9. And we're not running around killing people on the streets with Katanas now are we?
Wait... Are we?

You're right, it's none of our business, so don't start threads that we shouldn't be reading. None of us work for Microsoft that I'm aware, and none of us can suggest anything other than phoning them up or creating a new account. Period.

Nor play it on easy...I get a perfect FPS on high settings and then it just starts lagging, odd.

I like the zombies on this one - especially when you end up attracting hordes of them. Definitely on my 'want' list. I think the Zombie AI provides enough gameplay to make it enjoyable - but nothing you can just play in depth I think.

You are right, I was a little hasty in my opinion on the game. I have recently replayed the demo with a few friends and found it strangely entertaining.

However I don't think I will be first in line to pick up a fresh copy of the game. Just one of those things if you see in the bargain bin you think, "Meh, why the hell not"
