I'm sure most people reading this will have played some sort of Tower Defense variation, most likely through a flash app. I've also noticed attempts at people trying to make TD games in DBP.

I want to do a review of the history of tower defense games. The first ones i remember were on custom maps on Age of Empires 2, and more recently War Craft 3. I'm looking for other games which also feature tower defense maps, whether they're created by the game devs or if they're user-generated. If anyone can name any, please let me know

further more, lets open up an educational discussion about TD, i want to know you're favourite Flash TD Game, or favour td map from wc3/aoe2/other games, and why you like them.

Mmmm... tower defense was always a pretty popular game mode in starcraft. You'll find a pretty rich history of different TD games there.

That, and desktop tower defense is just addicting o.o

I don't know why, but I could just play it for hours on end.

To find out where TD really started look back at the old Atari arcade game Ramparts.

I wouldn't care to own WarIII if it weren't for TDs. I got into WarIII again because of the Counter Strike Tower Defense. It's awesome.

He's more of a fan of games like WoW, it's understandable he doesn't like Tower Defense. I sure do though.

It's fun because when you get far into the game there is strategy involved. You actually challenge your brain instead of reflexes. It's a nice change of pace. It's called casual gaming and like it or not it's becoming extremely popular.

That's cause its fun!

im not a fan of the flash td's, because of lack of multiplayer. td's on wc3 for example rely on teamwork to build mazes or kill different types of waves, or have the people towards the front use lots of ice towers to slow the creeps down and give the people behind more time to kill them. then theres also the competetive side, (tower wars) where while building your own base, you pay for stronger wave to attack your enemies
