Ohh, you went for the bleary eyed look as well - I thought I was being unique .

Personally I felt like I was playing with playmobil figures with a 3 year old when making it, couldn't they have added something to spice it up a bit!. There's no way to make your avatar even remotely badass.

Maybe you should get that hat in real life if your wife likes it

I love the style of this avatar system, I think they are much better than the Mii's.
I would however like to see the option to change the colour of certain items.

This actually looks a LOT like me. It's cool lol. Still not as accurate as my Mii is / was (at least when I had long hair. I haven't changed my Mii to short hair yet.

It's a Mii on steroids!!!

But in the end... it's still a Mii. Call it what you want, it's MS's take on the Mii.

Yes, competition isn't a crime nor should it be frowned upon, but I mean... make it a little less obvious at least!!!

I just hope they don't try to pull off something like this:

..and the Mii is Nintendo's take on the system normally in RPGs like Oblivion, which derives from earlier stuff......

If you have % signs in your URL it won't work properly

IMHO the Mii system looks like the welfare version of the 360 avatars. How can anyone say they look similar? Not at all!

They really don't look anything like each other at all. The thing is, is they're both just very cartoony. Aside from that, they are nothing alike.

Further that with everyone has been saying that the Mii's are more customisable than the Avatar system. Personally I don't find that to be true either.

I mean the Mii's have a single top that you can change the colour to one of what 16 colours?

You have no ears on the Mii, no accessories, etc...
Honestly, I found the Mii's extremely limited on what you can do and just as much so selection wise for what you could edit feature-wise.

Give the selection options the Avatars have, I find it amusing that everyone and their dog seems to go for basically the same look on them then bitches that they're not customisable enough.

There's a number of people on my friends list who yeah they basically made them look like themselves. Then there are others that I know full well they just WISH they looked like that... and amusingly enough they always end up looking like the same bearded square jawed stick figure.

Personally I find the Women on my list are far more damn imagination and realism; as almost all of them look exactly like they do in real-life.

I do look forward to more clothes and maybe a few more options feature wise, but for the most part I'm happy with the selection; especially knowing there are more coming.

The mii was actually original, the Xbox 360 avatar is as blatant a ripoff as I can think of! All of your avatars look like one guy dressed up differently, miis can actually look very different and you can play sports with em.

That's me. I don't really dress like that in real life but the 'metal' t-shirt looked stupid. And the unzipped sweatshirt makes me look like a gangster...

@Raven

no offense, but man you talk a lot I mean I could not type a page of a comment for each person lol

@SamHH

The Mii is not original avatars have been around forever in games at least all it is, is customizing. The miis also look horrible I could make those in 2 seconds flat.

@Cian Rice

hehehe reminds me of the kid from harry potter

Miis are very original, they are right on your wii not in a game. When you go over to a friend's house you just bring your wiimote and your mii is right on there. The point is Nintendo innovated making things more personal and inviting and actually creating an avatar that could be used in multiple games and that could just be messed with when you get bored, that was original. Rare, or whoever is responsible for the 360 avatars just looked at the miis and decided,"hey that worked for the wii, lets try and get our bad console sails numbers up by copying Nintendo."

Personally I like them more. I have a Wii and the 360. I've brought one of the avatar games from Xbox Live Arcade and I think it's great fun. Other than the fact they look cartoonish, there is no similarities. Nintendo hasn't got exclusive rights to cartoon characters.

It's like saying that Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft can't make a console because someone else has already made one.

Yeah?

Well, my Mii is a pro at just about every sport there is... and he rides a motorcycle (or a go-kart)!!! What has your avatar done lately?

Look, it's not that the Mii is an old fashioned avatar. It's a 3D avatar that isn't game specific! That was original! No other console before the Wii did that.

And is it just me or do all the 360 avatars have the same head shape? They also look like they're all the same size.

I agree that all our avatars looks like the same dude with different clothing. That sucks.

I'm looking forward to when they hopefully add different pieces for faces, clothing, shapes, etc. I have a rather fat friend who apparently can't even make a fat avatar

I wish Nintendo would get out of their circa 2001 era and allow people to place their Miis on their sites, and do stuff from the web like MS allows.

On the weekend I got an email from Sony to get into the Home beta, and have been messing around with that for a few hours. Their "avatar" system is actually much more advanced than MS' avatar system. Let's see who the king is once Home is released
