He's ready for download!

Download here: http://www.hyrumark.com/RickAstley.zip

I've included a very basic Rick-Roll script, let's see how creative you can be! There's nothing funnier than watching him from across the room, totally oblivious to whatever else is going on around him. He keeps synchronized through the whole song!

Here's my first FPSC Rick Roll effort: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OY1M-CJHQ8s

Not a very difficult boss Video could use a little more excitement/interest to go viral but good effort. I'd change the description too because it's a bit of a spoiler.

off topic.. I'm in love with at Caramelldansen crap now lol noooooo

Let's see what people can come up with - I don't think my effort will go viral, but I'll bet many around here could do better.

Strangely, the funniest one I've done is simply putting him in the "simple" level that ships with FPSC, the one with 2 Colonel X's on each side of the room. For some reason, when the Rickroll starts, Colonal X jumps to a squat position like, "What the hell!?" I about peed my pants - then he just stands there, humiliated, as the dancing goes on...

You're welcome. He should be easy to retexture once the novelty wears off, I just used a quick front/back UV layout that should make it easy. A generic trenchcoat wearing guy would be pretty useful I think.

EDIT: I just realized that Youtube has a "high quality" view mode button right below the volume control, that plays the video in the original 640x480 resolution. That's pretty cool, glad to see they've stepped it up in quality.

I included a "stopsound" command in his die script after I made the video. It should work correctly in the download version - if it doesn't someone let me know for sure and I'll fix it.

I can just imagine this appearing in every single FPSC game released. There you have an innocent player making their way through each level, when suddenly Rick comes up and they say "I don't believe this, I just got Rick Rolled in a video game!" Well done Bond.

Bond you are my hero

I wish I had a fraction of your modelling skill...

When I kill Rick the music keeps playing... I checked the script but couldn't work out why it wouldn't stop

I guess the stopsound command only works in conjuction with the loopsound command. I've attached a new script that fixes this. Thanks for letting me know.

I just tested the onld one, and looked at the scripts to figure it out.
By the time I came back, Bond had posted the answer.
LOL

I see you had a line in state=1 commented out that would kill the player after 9 seconds.
LOL
What made you pick 9 seconds?

Bond, I noticed you specified the full path on the stopsound.
I never have, and I'm pretty sure it makes no difference.

Hehe, I knew YOU would figure that out. I was just testing lots of different scenarios that I though would be funny - hence all the commented out lines.

Bond1

Can I just ask a question about your custom animated skeletons.

I know you don't mind people doing re textures for your characters but what about making our own characters for your custom animations?

Rigging characters to the standard FPSC bi-ped is fine in most cases but would be cool to add more variety in the way some characters move for those of us animationally challenged.

...Barry'd be fine. He's scary enough, to be sure.

Jerry Lee Lewis would be a better boss to face. His nickname is The Killer...

It would be absolutely painful if you froze the player while the song was playing and made him immortal for it's entirety. Then when the song finishes, he pulls out a gun and shoots them in the head.

Am I morbid or what?!

Would it be illigal to use this model and the song in a commercial game?

I had some bugs with him, when I added the Airmod bloodspurt command, after I shot him he got stuck in an endless run of falling in various directions, and after killing him he popped back up as invicible, stood there, and the music only played when I was away from him, odd

bond, I thought I read earlier that rick has animations to allow him to attack the player? or did I read that wrong?

anyhow, love the model. I can't wait to unleash this dude on my buddies in one of the games I'm working on.

Well he's got all the standard animations that a regular FPSC character has, in addition to the rickroll. So anything you can do with a regular character, you can do with him.

Cool Bond

So, the dance move is animation #92, right? (frames 2498 to 2707)

What is anim 93 (frame 59 to 59?) is that a death pose?
