Well I copied the texture files that it said to copy from the read-me, and now I can see the hands but the guns are still white.. As soon as I get this sorted out I'll release the demo.

Thanks gunner, and yes NS was my first game, but the files have taken a dump since I got my new comp, I've been trying to transfer them all over but it hasnt gone very well, hence the reason for starting this project. I may have to just boot up my old comp and work on NS on that comp when I get the chance.

From what pack did you get the Diet Oopsi and the Exit sign?
I've got it before but i lost it, do you know the name of the pack?

Anyway, Very nice game.

That bug with the white weapons...
Have you replaced all the files in the weapons folder (fps creatorfilesgamecoregunsmodel pack 9)
with the build game files?? if you replace all the files it will work i think...

Sorry havent been able to post lately been busy with christmas and the family. The issue with the guns is still happening.. I tried your idea silver, but it still continues to happen. I'm ready to just use the guns from mp5 and mp6 if it continues to occur, I'll keep you informed.

EDIT: Changed the weapons to mp6 guns for now. Currently uploading the demo of level 1. Should be up by the end of the night

I downloaded it and to tell you the truth, I wasn't really all that impressed. The layout was good, but it lagged. And everything looked nice but the enemies were terrible. They were not positioned well, did not scare me and we insanely fast and strong, which was annoying.

I really liked the apartment the player started in, very nice work there, although it lagged a bit for no obvious reason.

The entity placement overall was really good, so well done on that.

The first zombie scared the hell out of me! Other than that though, I wasn't keen on the enemies, because a) their placement wasn't as good as it could have been, and b) they simply didn't attack. I had to get really close to some of them before they seemed to notice me, and then if I backed away, they stopped following me. Also, players don't like being attacked from behind.

The city was pretty well fleshed out, with all those building entites, but I did notice they weren't standing on anything when I jumped over the fence. Either move them closer, or move them lower down.

I got between 8-30FPS, but averaged between 18-26 FPS, which is alright considering the size of the level and number of enemies but it would have been nice to have it a little higher.

Overall, this was an alright first attempt. There's still some things that need ironing out, and there should be more atmosphere. It says when you get near the telephone that you're trembling. I don't know why, but I just wasn't. Maybe zombies just don't scare me...

Okay thanks for the reviews guys theres not too much I can do about dumb AI on the zombies part. I'll have to add more spawns so they come from behind and what not. I've been trying to fix the lag spikes, I'm not quite sure why its lagging in certain areas, but I'll work on it. Thanks

just to help some lag and possibly add to the game make a really heavy object fall and block a door that has just closed on its own after the player has gone through it then unload all the entities that were in the first part

I played the demo and here's what I thought:

Good

There was alot of entities and such which made the level interesting to look around.

The flashlight was a nice touch even though I think you'd need to have the ambience lower for it to work properly.

I jumped at the first zombie as it came round the corner, good enemy placement there.

Lighting in some areas was really nice.

The menu screens were excellent.

The first audioclip was good as it made me feel nervous and confused.


BAD:

Enemies appearing behind you. You've no idea how annoying it is to have things just randomly popping up without anything to suggest it's about to happen. No enemy should appear directly behind you. I was shooting zombies in front of me, got hurt one, wondered what had happened, turned and found a zombie had frozen behind me. It isn't scary, take them out.

Too many enemies - This killed alot of the AI and also took away any tension that you'd set up at the beginning.

Enemy types were too varied for my liking. Why would you have so many nurses in an appartment building? You also had random skeletal zombies which had the worst walking animation xD It was funny!

Enemies were too fast - I know you're trying to make it harder, but the shotgun takes so long to reload that your dead before you can fire again.

BUGS etc

Lag in the first half of your appartment. It was fine after that.

The papers on the flood of your apparentment kept flickering and disappearing.

You had a zombie spawn at the exit of the carpark but it couldnt navigate the barrier.


I have a 1400 x 900 monitor, yet the menu screens were very clear. What size and what type of image are they?

@ TeamASP - Well I would REALLY like to implement that title screen into the game, so if it would be cool with you let me know.

@ Butt monkey - Thanks for the review, very helpful. I only had one enemy spawn behind you and thats in the hallway of the apartments, but right before it spawns you can hear a creepy voice whisper "turn around." Other than that none spawned behind. A problem I did notice, is that when you go down the elevator, one of the zombies managed to get in the elevator shaft before the lift reached the bottom, every now and then. So I'll have to have it spawn further away from the shaft so it doesnt go running in there before it reaches the bottom. Also I've figured out the problem with the mp9 and 10 models, so they will be put back into the game. As far as the zombie models went, I just wanted to have some varieties and I'm kinda limited until I get bond1's zombies. Thanks again for the review

Just wanted to add a few things I forgot, sorry:

A zombie spawns in a doorway and you can see him colliding with it (his legs show through)

Your HUD blocks the flashlight power so you can't see when your about to run out.

More zombies definetally spawned behind me... That zombie in the outside area couldn't have got behind me any other way

Hmm, I'll play it when I can, but here are some tips just in case you haven't already implemented these two things:

Change health for each enemy, it keeps the player on his toes, that way not every single type A zombie takes 3 shots to kill or whatever.

Also change the speed depending on where the character is. I personally like having a zombie run at you at full speed right after you open a door.

I played the demo, and I was impressed by the atmosphere but I do have a few complaints that differ from what Butt Monkey said, You should use the headshot script if you have the right update, because the enemy's have too much health.
Overall that was very good.

Alright I've updated level 1. I've taken some advice and reduced the number of zombies to add some more build up tension. I've also gotten the problem with the mp9 and 10 weapons working. I've implemented TeamASP's main menu into the game aswell and gave it a much more professional look.
