Hi,
I am making an online fps at the moment, but what keys should be the default controls? I am use to using a PS3 controller so i am not sure what buttons are normally used for FPS?

At the moment I am using the arrow keys, but is AWSD preferred?
What reload, crouch, buttons and etc are normal?

Thanks,
Alex

1-9 keys for weapons. Tab for scoring/inventory or something like that. F1-F12 are sometimes used for non-conventional abilities eg. force powers in Star Wars or plasmids in BioShock.

Also, I like using z for zoom. C can be used for crouch but it should be toggled (rather than held) since you can't move very well with WASD if you're holding C. The . and , keys, or the [ and ] or ; and ' keys (on a UK keyboard, anyway) can be used to cycle weapons. T could be used to switch camera, but it sounds like you'd be using first person the whole time.

I know plenty of people who use arrowkeys in FPS games, but they're all crazy.

WASD is the best!

Please use the C key for crouch! Also the scroll wheel should be used to flip through weapons.

movement - WASD
lean - Q & E
use - E or F
crouch - C
walk - SHIFT
zoom - Z or right click
voice - V
weapons - 1-9 and/or scroll
melee - right click or G
fire - left click
every body is different best that you make a menu to change the key bindings even in console games were you use a controller some people don't like the defaults if anybody remembers fur fighters the controls were way different (Ps2 or Dreamcast)

I prefer Ctrl, every fps I've played uses that...

I'd personally use Tab...

Quote: "Crouch : C"

Control, (Ctrl)

Quote: "Jump: Z"

Spacebar

Quote: "Sprint (press forward to) : Space"

Shift
Quote: "Aim (look down barrel) : Left Click
Fire: Right Click"

Swap them around.
