Hello.
Im new to the forums. Im from Argentina and im [EDIT - NO AGES PLEASE]

Im a newbie of FPSCreator x9 and im currently creating a game (i will post later some screens in the showcase forum).

My question is....
Imma buy a Amd Athlon 5000 X2 2.6ghz and a Nvidia GeForce 8600 GS(512 mb).

I currently have a lame@ss Intel Celeron (2.5 ghz) and a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 (128 mb).
My motherboard is a Asus P4S800D-X.

Do i have to change my motherboard to be able to change my Processor and Graphics card?.

If i can... lets say i get that processor and GFX card.... will i be able to play Crysis, GTA IV, and Assassin's creed? I have 1.5 GB of ram (im going to buy 1 more GB).

Thanks for the answers.

BTW: My english might be bad, Spanish is my Native language.

That motherboard will not work with an AMD processor. It's also not going to work with any new Intel processor either (Only P4s, which you can get cheap, but isn't much of an upgrade). You'll need a new motherboard to get a decent processor.

Well that would be perfect for FPSC X9 and really, that would exceed the limit expect frame rates in the 100's but anyways that would be perfect, although don't buy any AMD cards they are not compatible with X10 should you ever decide to upgrade to it. So for my advice in the graphics department go with buying only the Nvidia 8600.

Don't get AMD, get Intel. Also, why not get a better card for probably only a little more? The GeForce 8800 GTS is under $100 US dollars right now, or so I hear.

@ Lemonade.
I used for 7 years an AMD (i think it was a k6 or something like that) with 366 MHZ.
Its just i like more AMD because one of them was my first Gaming Pc and they are WAY more cheaper (in price) than Intel, at least here in Argentina. Besides i trust more in AMD than Intel, the Customer Support fails, at least in Argentina.
And im buying a 8600gs because its the best card i can afford WITH MY MONEY (i want to buy the processor, GFX card and motherboard with my money).

The money in my country is named Pesos.
$1 US dollar is $3.42 pesos (at the moment, every day, that value changes, tomorrow can be $2.10 pesos, $5 pesos, etc).
My money is around $770 pesos (its around, it isnt that exact amount of money).

The GFX Card is $349 pesos or $102,04 US dollars.
The Processor is around $277,02 Pesos or $87 US dollars (it depends where you buy it).
The motherboards i saw (i dont know what kind i should buy) are around the $120-250 dollars (sadly, i might ask my parents to buy it for me, unless i get enough money in Christmas.

That would give a total of $309,04 US dollars or $1056,91 posos (damn motherboard lol).

I think i will not be able to buy everything with my money, but i still dont know what kind of motherboard should i get.

Bump!.

I found a 8600 gt at $85 US dollars.
That is a lot cheaper than the 8600 gs i was planning to buy.
That would give me a little more of money, something like $54,14 US dollars to buy the motherboard.

The motherboard must be a AM2 with a socket of 940 i think.... am i right?.

Don't forget about memory and a power supply to run that new rig... Also make sure you have a cpu cooler for the processor, sometimes they don't come with fans/coolers. Also make sure you know what your doing when you put it together, where as the slightest error could be costly. You could probably savage your current case, hard drive and disk drives, but I would prefer SATA over IDE.

I have a 2.0ghz Intel Core Duo 2 (I believe it requires 2.2 for Core Duo 2 and 2.6 for other dual cores), 4GB RAM and nVidia GeForce 9500M GS graphics card in my laptop and it runs Assassin's Creed just fine, of course it doesn't use all of my 4GB. As long as you fit into the minimum requirements for AC then it should work fine.

GTA IV I think will be a stretch though - its console to PC port apparently is poorly optimised.
