Hi

Anyone know what the rules are for compiling BSPs?
I have tried a few .x files without any success - i keep getting a "Failed to select splitter" error. Ive just made the test .x file in Milkshape.

Thanks for any help

All bsp's must be totally enclosed must have roofs,no open doors or windows. All textures used must be in the bsp convertor directory along with your .X file for conversion.

BTW the tool I like using for creating .X for bsp's is Cshop2(anxiously waiting Cshop3).

Hi Rav,
CShop maps seem to compile ok. Although I havent lightmapped one yet to see if it works with lightmaps.

I think they are Q3 BSP's although I havent had a closer look at them. One thing to remember is complex levels can crash the compiler.

Nope the DBpro compiler doesn't produce Q3 BSPs or Q2 bsps!, their a native format to DBpro, of which the format structure hasn't been released.

You may be wondering why it compiles to a native format but it will allow much tighter intergration with DBpros special effects in the future!!

If anyone gets any errors when trying to compile their maps please send me the model with textures and I will be able to find out what is going wrong. My email address is mike@darkbasic.com

There is some info about creating maps that can be downloaded from www.thereptilecorporation.com/BSP1.zip The zip is around 8 mb. It also contains an updated version of the BSP compiler which fixes several bugs.

Lightmaps aren't supported from CShop just yet but will be in a future patch.

Mike
