After a long break break from actually game making I have decided to start up on my multiplayer first person shooter game. I am wanting to start from scratch though because my modeling and texture skill have come a long way since then. So I came up with a couple of ideas and was wondering if you could tell me which one would be the most interesting?Feel free to give new ideas.

Scifi
WWII
Horror
Steampunk
A Warhammer 40k fan game
Civil War
Modern Warfare

These are just a couple I came up with.

Thanks

I have 2 ideas.

1:

Like you stated, a horror game.
You will be walking in corridors, and the map will be pretty huge but its all corridors, rooms and tunnels, and its free for all so you walk alone.
And maybe add some cool weapons like traps and other stuff to improve the gameplay.

2:

An island multiplayer shooter game.

2 teams on each their island, its boats and helicopters which you can enter and its deathmatch or capture the flag. Also a good choice of weapons so it becomes a little rock paper scissors, like rpg or at4 takes vehicles, m4 takes infantry etc.

I have an impossible idea. Combine them all. Use things from each genre. I'd love to see what it would turn out to be...

I would like to see a LAN compatible multiplayer game with more emphasis on team work (against a CPU controlled objective rather than other players). There are a few online games of this kind, but very few PC games playable over LAN that work like this

Sorry but I disagree, I have played games like this before, and the AI is normally stupid or not that clever. We end up shooting each other on the same team as its more fun.

Thanks for the input guys. I could do the co-op LAN thing but I am very horrible at programming AI. It would probably turn out like Left 4 Dead with less zombies and crappy graphics.

The engine supports up to 8 player right now though I could probably get it to support more relativly easily. And the only game type is FFA.

Command & Conquer: Renegade was great!
