I was made aware of this competition recently.
There's several categories, but the game development one seems most interesting to me.
Make a game using XNA Game Studio 2.0 or XNA 3.0
The theme is "Solve the world's toughest problems" yikes...
Grand prize is $25,000. That's a lot of beer money

Looks good, Trouble is a team would need to be found. Looks like a serious competition.

Edit: Maybe not, You can be a singleton, Just would seem a bit weird going to cirao on your own lol.

If only they would let you enter with your spleen. I'd love to see it, I imagine you'd have to be quite creative...youtube it and maybe you can become the next youtube star alongside Chris Crocker, the Star Wars guy and Chocolate Rain...

...on second thoughts, lets not do that, that's a bad idea.

I'll go back to my cave now.

You can only enter if,
Quote: "You are actively enrolled as a student at an accredited educational institution that grants high-school or college/university (or equivalent) degrees any time between January 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009"
.
I don't have a problem with that, just thought it might be helpful to point it out before any oldbies got too interested

Is it common practice to say you cannot enter if you're a resident of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, or Syria?

hmm. XNA is actually a lot of fun. Did anyone here enter in the Dream Build Play compo? I tried in that one with StarFighter, and failed horribly

This one, could be interesting, maybe I should scrape the team back together...

This is my WIP, not even ready for a WIP thread yet though.http://smallgroupproductions.com/

Probably has something to do with the USA's relationship with those nations. Dumb, if you ask me.

Well, I think this is cool... I've been thinking about getting into game development recently, so I think I just might!

Doubtful. I think it's more because those countries would not allow their students to enter and/or win money and/or leave the country. North Korea doesn't even have the internet.

I've taken a look into the rules of the competition and I have to say it looks like an impossible challenge to me.
To take the challenge on your own is like suicide (not really, but you get the point) and I don't have the contacts to make a team that can beat teams on a professional level.

Goodbye $25,000...
