Very nice, is it part of the weapon or something?

Ohhh, I see! Did you mod it to attach the player camera to the head bone of an animated model?

I thought of something like that a while ago... I doubt yours is done the same way though. I was thinking that you place a model right below the players start marker with no collision, then you get it to follow the player at the right speed and play animation. Depending on which button you press, it plays different animations. But I doubt it is done the same way.

Dang it CoZ, I coded it, I wanted to show it off!

At least everyone knows about it now Do you think the blob-shadow used for characters would be a nice addition? I remember Return to Castle Wolfenstein using something similar.

Also, is the use of Errant's soldier model permanent (ie: is the character a soldier now?) or is it a place-holder?

The legs look nice, but I can't help wondering why no body did this in Ply's Mod yet, seeing as how that has been possible for a long time now.

The game's coming along nicely, Coz.

@Airslide:

Please tell me you didn't hard-code everything into the engine again.

@Juzi: I shall be releasing a full level demo of the new DS once the level is completely finished, and I have checked a few things with Airslide.

Hmm, I considered it, but the collision on characters was too...bad back then, especially with jumping and such, maybe I'll test it out, as V1.15 has improved character collision, right?

@CG:

No, it doesn't. But what do you mean by bad character collision? This doesn't matter if the entity is bound to the player's camera, as that entity's collision is turned off since it will be using the player's collision.

Using a stock character for this would be very easy, though it looks nice the way CoZ has it because of custom animations suited to being a player. It's still nothing new to me.

Because every other Engine requires additional Programming (Torque, NeoAxis, Leadwerks etc.)?

Great Work Airslide and Errant, altough the AI seems a bit basic right now... however, looks good.

I think GOW was being sarcastic, although the programming aspect isnt the problem for me, Its time thats the issue, I have little of it.

Anyway lets get back on topic

The legs are cool but I think they need to be raised up a little bit. When you look down it makes you look like you are about 7 feet tall. I don't know if its because the player model is taller than all the other entities but it looks funny lol.

It is.

Load a character entity into FPSC and walk up to them. You're at least a foot taller than them.

Nice work. I'm a little shambled about this engine though.
I can't make myself do any work on MY game because of the poor
lighting FPSC does. I'm sure that X9 can do a somewhat medium of
bloom to make the light look real. That's just my problem. Light makes or breaks a game. I CANNOT stand unreal lighting. It disgusts
me to even work on it without knowing the lighting is great.

Ok I have tidied up this thread (I think)... Some of you who added to the conversation may find you are noob slapped for a couple of days.

I appreciate it's incredibly annoying when something like this happens and you want to defend your friends, but please it just fans the flames higher and makes the moderator's job harder.

If I had known Robert F was posting with alt accounts I could have stopped this sooner. I don't always check every thread so if someone is posting something inappropriate you will get a much quicker response by emailing me and telling me (or any mod).

Also just because you don't see any action being taken doesn't mean things aren't being discussed behind the scenes!

Now let's keep this discussion on topic from here on.

Thanks Thraxas. I can finally get back to game dev. Oh, and for those of you who interested, I shall be making a thread in the geek culture board concerning Free running or "Parkour". I have been doing parkour for about a year now and me and some of my other tracourists film some of the outings (such as freerunning in a multistory carpark...Its a pretty intense experience) So for those of you who are interested, and Want to maybe see me screw up some rail vaults can keep an eye out for that thread.

Sorry Thraxas, it was too hard to keep quiet.
Well,anyways, DS looks great CoZ. I've known about it but never complimented you on how awesome it looks. Just out of curiosity is this a team deal or are other people helping you with some stuff?? Or is it all you?

@Red Eye: I have more than 2 years more experience than you on this forum, So Ive been around long enound long enough to not say stuff just to cause trouble. I was giving you some forum C&C to help you along, but telling a user such as me to shut up and not say anything is not the best way of incresing your reputation around here and making friends.

All Im saying is that when you joined the forum (end of 2008), no one really cared if you created N00bish threads etc, but back in 2006 when I joined, N00bs got a hard time (me included) for creating pointless threads etc which was better in one respect because you where taught how to post appropriately on the forum.

@Red Eye: Haha yeah

Right then, Im actually considering starting a new thread, because as some of you know, DS had undergone a major change in terms of style, and then got clogged up due to recent events, and I feel it would be nice to start a new thread again once sutible progress has been made.
So If any MODS dont have any objections, please could you lock this thread.
