I tried this at Yahoo, not a single answer, perhaps fellow game makers know more about the hard ware we make our games with than I certainly do.

My old computer went down, but not to worry I have another computer, I have set up a new connection to the internet, but the trouble is, I cant remember my old passwords for web pages.

For example, I have a web site I want to get into. On my old computer I would just type the site mane with cpanel on the end, then my web browser would auto fill the password that the site wanted, well I cant remember the password.

I can plug this old drive into my new HD, so if files are on the old HD I can swap them over, only I don't know which ones to swap over, which ones have the data, I thought it may be the cookies that one finds in my documents, I copied and pasted the old ones into my new ones in my documents on my new HD, but that didn't do it.

Just what do we copy over from an old hard disk to a new one so we can have web sites and forums etc have their details filled in when we visit web sites on our new computer

that stuff's all encrypted and can't be copied over. If you find some haxxor tools to read saved password from firefox/ie/whatever, you might get them back, but you'll be opening yourself to virus infections if you go searching out these types of tools if you're not savvy enough to know where to look.

I'd suggest using the 'reset password' feature to get your passwords back. For cpanel, you'll have to contact your hosting provider.

I know it happens sometimes, happens to me too, but let this be a lesson to always make your passwords something you can easily remember.

I always use passwords from random number/letter generators. Works fine for me.

You can try using Mozbackup which will transfer all your settings from Firefox onto a single file, with which you can import onto your new computer. This will probably write over your new settings, though, and I'm not even sure if passwords are transferred. Try it though, it might work.
