Hi all, I have been looking for a case for a new PC build and all I really care about is fitting my Radeon 2900 XT in. I just wanted to know what are good cases in your experience? I was looking at this one, but it got some really bad reviews on tiger direct.

Looks like a pretty good case. But so did mine - then I realized that cases are mostly just glitter these days, with more thought going into aesthetics than ergonomics.

The next time I build a PC, I'm using a media center case, a giant block of space, where you can install and maintain your PC plus retain most of the skin on your hands. I think we spend too much time trying to squeeze components in, when in this day and age we shouldn't bloomin have to.
Something like this is what I'd go for, without looking too closely at the aesthetics, just the design and general shape.

So you post a link to a micro-atx box?

I once bought an Antec full tower thinking it'd give me tons of room, but really it had no more room to work with than a mid-tower. The only difference being I needed much longer cables.

That's the last case I bought, Newegg has interior pictures. PSU goes on the bottom, cables hide behind the motherboard tray, multiple included fans with adjustable speeds and air filters for the front 2 fans. Throw in a Seasonic PSU and you'll have the quiest PC ever. All drive brackets include silicon grommets to reduce trailing vibrations, as does the coated brace that goes around the PSU. It's pricey and may take a few extra minutes to install everything properly, but it's a very well made case. But the panels do scratch easily.

The draw of the full tower case is the fact I can put a big GPU in without hitting the hard drive enclosures or the sides. I have a mid tower right now and I wouldn't be able to fit that big ATI card in, but if would fit its no problem to have a mid tower.

Ive got the antec 900, Very good for air cooling, And so overclocking is a lot easier.

Thermaltake armor is apparently pretty good, yet expensive. I've seen videos of it and it looks incredible, loads of space etc.

Indeed, Ive had some good experiences with it. All depends on what you are after, For very good air cooling you should go for the antec 900, If you are looking more for silence, and using the more expensive water cooling solutions, You should go for something like the Antec P182 Advanced Super Mid Tower ATX Case surgested previously by Phaelx.

I don't really care about silence, I can just crank up the volume or wear headphones, and my PC environment always has background noise

The full towers I've seen are no deeper than any other case, which is where you run into problems with those really long gfx cards.

I once came across a case that used no fans at all. The entire case was designed to act as a heatsink for the cpu. I emailed the guys (as no price was listed on the site) and it was over $1000, PSU not included.

Yes 30C is not bad at all i consider anything over 40C bad. my computer runs at a average of about 29C if not a little lower or higher then that.

A 8800GT fits in my Thermaltake Armour just fine. with plenty of room to spare, now i don't know about the newer cards.

My two cents go for the NZXT tempest, the 'airflow king', with bottom mounted PSU:

Not expensive, good cooling, plenty of space.

I like my Cooler Master Wave master. Extremely well made, and very solid. There are huge chunks of solid aluminium in it. Also you can slide the motherboard out very easily.
