That this forum would be better if it didn't lock threads that were old and maybe had like a private messaging system? I don't see why it's kind of at this loose end of interaction maybe to discourage paedos?

I am indeed very discouraged. I would like a PM system too, but this has been discussed before numerous times, and will lead nowhere. Your only hope is that the person you want to contact has his/her's contact details on the site, and use that. I've encountered a few situations where I wanted to contact someone on the forum and couldn't becase not everyone bothers to put up the info. And I hate to make threads, asking a semi-personal question to one person. But you'll have to live it with. It's not the end of the world. Maybe.

I think it's good to lock threads that have not been posted in for a while, I don't quite see the issue in that. If you want your thread alive just bump it every now and then.
PM'ing system would be nice though, or just brutally force people to type up their email and/or IM, but doing that might just alienate a few too many people.

There's a design in act here like the way J. Edgar Hoover applied social sciences of his time to the architectural landscape of america, no doubt the lead administrator of the forum is a cross-dresser.

...and will appreciate me locking this thread on their behalf.
See, sometimes threads don't even have to be old to be locked.

Also I'd like to make a note that if someone doesn't have their email listed, odds are they don't want to be contacted privately.
