Hey guys,

I know it's been a long time since I've been around these parts of cyberspace, but I wanted to show you my latest project. This is what happens when you mix a woodworker with a computer geek.

If you're wondering what it is, it's a home made CNC router. I've still got a fair amount to do to get it to perfection. The table is slightly out of level, there are a few areas that need tightening, minor adjustments, etc., but it's finally making sawdust!!

Sorry guys, but this has been much more of a blast than programming CodeSurge ever was, although I did enjoy it. Both projects have caused considerable frustration, but also a high level of elation when it's actually working.

Anyone want me to cut them a sign, lol? I'd be more than happy to have some little projects to use it for. I've got to justify the money I've put into it.

Edit: If anyone wants to follow my build thread, it is here. You will probably need to sign up for an account to view the pictures, though.

Wow, that is really great. I could spend hours just watching it do it's thing, it's pretty mesmerizing. Great work.

Do you have any plans for it? I mean did you build it for a specific purpose or just because it's a cool thing to have?

Well, I have the excuse that I'll use it for odd-ball stuff we do in the cabinet shop -- lazy susan cabinets, angled cabinets, etc. But the main reason I built it was because it is cool to have it around, and also just because I could. It's funny, but all of my most brilliant ideas have come about by me just thinking, "What if I just try this wacky idea?"

I'm also thinking of designing my own small sized CNC router kit that I can produce and sell online, using this machine to cut the parts. I like the idea of robots creating robots, don't you?

Lol, so do I.

Very cool dude. The first thing that comes to mind when I see that though is make some money! Put an add or something in the paper or make a website marketing your ability to do that kind of stuff. After you spent all that time building it, make a little mullah off it you know?
