Evochron Legends, the latest space-simulation from Starwraith 3D Games, has been released just now.

As you probably have read in the newsletter, Evochron Legends is a fully commercial game created in TGC products, and the SW3D-series is probably the series that has been coded in The Game Creator products for the longest consequent period of time. Personally, I hold the SW3DG games as a great example of what can be achieved commercially by the use of the TGC's products.

In Evochron Legends, you take the role of an independent mercenary and make your living the way you want. This could be, among others, through mining or pirating, fighting in the frontlines or as trader.

From the SW3DG newsletter release:
Quote: "The Vonari have invaded Alliance space and are pushing toward the outer systems of Cerulean and Talison. The Alliance has placed defense forces at two war zone points near each system to stop the Vonari from reaching nearby colonial planets. Mercenaries throughout the quadrant have joined in the fight, the battle for Evochron has begun... "

Evochron Legends, like its predecessor, features freeform gameplay, a seamless universe, interactive environments, realtime planetary descent, an active and dynamic economy, multiplayer and in-game ship modification. Unlike its predecessor, though, crafting, military aspects and warzones.

The graphics have been improved, but the best way to show that probably is through screenshots and media, so here's a link to those (trailer at the bottom).

Owners of Evochron Renegades get a discount of 20% until February, 8th. A list of changes compared to Evochron Renegades is available here.

Evochron Legends is available for $24,95 from www.starwraith.com. The demo offers you free singleplayer gameplay for an hour or what. For a list of game features, click here.

Sweet. Even if I won't buy it, I can only say "Wow"...

Make games, not war.

I don't think SW3D is expecting massive sales. It's a space simulation, a game written for a specific target audience. But in its genre, it definitely is a gem.

I read in the newsletter that this was written in DB Classic. Is the true? It looks brilliant! I will download the demo and check it out first. Good job!

It uses a special enhanced version with some features they wanted, but there's no comparison when it comes to showing what DB can do.

I bought Evochron Renegades, which is great but I never go very far with it. I think that maybe I'm waiting on the perfect space combat and trading game, I'm sure they'll get there eventually . I bought it before the demo time even ran out, the learning curve on these games is pretty steep if you haven't played them before. Perhaps in their next game they could make the learning curve smoother and maybe broaden their market.
But really if your looking for a game that you can really get into I recommend checking it out, especially if you have a good flightstick, as the games come into their own with one of those. It's atmospheric and intelligent, and there's a lot of more mature gamers out there who could really get into that style of game I think.

Yes, Starwraith 3D Games uses DarkBASIC Classic, as Van B stated.

Good to see such a positive reply .

@tha_rami - How were you involved in the making of this game? Just curious.

Not really. I made some updates to the DB Classic source code for them. This version was then released as DBC 1.2.

Involved? I did some minor art and testing. Besides that, I'm not affliated with SW3DG and a mere great fan of the guy.

Quote: "Seamless planet descents that can include weather effects such as rain, snow, and turbulence. Explore planets for hidden benefits, trade at city stations, mine their surfaces for valuable materials, recover cells from plants for valuable biological material, or hide in their atmospheres... they are an important part of the game's interactive universe... not just background scenery you can only look at. "

Definitively a must see!

Congratulations, I hope it becomes a success.
