I've noticed that the 4850 and above has a built in physics processor. I can't seem to find any real information about it.

So is this a gimmick or does it actually work like a generic phys-x processor?

It looks like it works with the Havok physics engine. http://ati.amd.com/technology/crossfire/physics/index.html

On games with compatible physics engines, I would guess it runs like a beast. But for obscure games that have ALOT of physics but probably aren't compatible (cortex command) it may not do anything. I dunno.

Hmm, let's see. If you're gonna buy three graphics cards, chances are you're gonna buy a very good multicore processor and so a dedicated physics system is not really at all useful at this moment in time.

What good is knowledge without a degree of understanding?

Thanks..

I will be running a AMD Phenom II 3.0Ghz
Thinking of buying a Radeon 3850

I'm actually asking because I want to buy Dark Physics and I'm rather fascinated by it. I would like to develop mini games and applications using it. As part of my development in becoming a 3D games programmer.

So let me make a long story short.

If I have the phenom and the Ageia PhysX drivers (installs with Jericho and UT3)on my system then I'm Good? Regardless of what GPU I have?

I am rather N00B on this subject and statements like this makes me even more N00B ~

Quote: ""While the AGEIA PhysX™ processor isn't a requirement with Dark Physics it's clear that harnessing it in your games will make a significant difference and allow you to handle much more." "

Presently, I would like to learn to program games for the future, because by the time I can properly program games, it will already be the future.
