I'm mostly listening to Trance at the moment.

Daniel Khandi is a bit of a legend, as is Aly & Fila, Sunlounger etc.
Of course I listen to a few of the classics, System F, Above & Beyond etc

Top quality music. Even better when you're there though.

Yeah, took me a while to get use to his singing, so it was good having the instrumental disc as well .

[Edit] As for the thread topic, I'm quite into post-rock at the moment. Mono's newest album, Hymn To The Immortal Wind, is pretty amazing.

Yeah, Boston is pretty awesome. The only reason I listen to Foreplay/Long Time is because I like the guitar in it.

There are multiple other songs I like by them, but I can't remember what they are and can't find them anywhere...it's too bad that particular CD broke.

I agree.

I listen to Buckethead, Rusty Cooley, and Steve Vai (somewhat -- he's a bit soft) mainly. As well as Michael Angelo Batio.

I have over 4 hours of Buckethead music, about an hour of Rusty Cooley.

I don't listen to just metal...

A little bit of techno, David Bowie has some pretty good songs (But if I listen to them to much, they lose my interest.).

53/139 hours of music on my computer is metal. I have from trance to metal to blues to comedy to etc on here... I just named my favorites.

Yeah actually, I've been playing different types of instruments since I was a kid, so over time I've learned to appreciate most types of music.

However, I can't stand music like pop and country. For one, with pop music, most everything is based around the singer and you never hear of the people who actually play the music. Like Micheal Jacksons song Beat it for example. A lot of people don't know that it was Eddie Van Halen who actually wrote the guitar work for this song.
As far as country, well i'm just not into depressing music.

And rap/ or hip hop, well it's always the same garbage over and over again. Yes I've actually had my years of listening to this garbage too.

Every music genre -- with lyrics -- follows a sort of "standard" theme in their lyrics.

Death Metal -- Usually girlfriends or death or being awsome.
Rap -- Girls (if sung by boys), and boys (if sung by girls).
"Underground Rap" (for lack of better name) -- Your life's story, the exact same one, in every song.
Rock -- Girls
Country -- Life

It all follows the same theme, usually. Hence why I prefer Instrumental music. Well, actually I prefer instrumental music because most of it actually requires skill to create, it's not all the same, and I don't have to hear someone complain (I hear enough people do that on these forums, and in real life.)

I mean depressing in the music and the melody of a song more than the lyrics.

With Country it is, Western Country type accent that drives me nuts, When they start singing it almost sounds as though their more whining than anything.

Heavy groups like slayer and sepultura are all about adrenaline. This is the kind of music that gets the blood in your veins pumping harder than anything. As far as the lyrics, Slayer I could understand a bit, But I never could make out what Sepultura was singing about. This kind of music is something that I listen to mainly for the music itself and not the lyrics.

Rap is always the same garbage over and over, Getting Laid / Getting High / I'm Gonna shot you down cause me the homeys at the crib are big bad gangsta's. Yet they still don't know how to dress. lol

I like Techno though, again this is more adrenaline music but without the rap garbage.

Most of the time when I listen to music, I am in tuned more to the instruments and melody of a song rather than the lyrics. Most of the time I can't ever make out what the artist is singing about anyway. Almost as though i'm deaf to the lyrics.

Classical music has quite a heavy influence in metal, some people say that if Mozart were around today he'd be in rock/metal band. In some cases classical music and metal combine, like Nightwish, Symphony X, Haggard, Korpiklaani (okay that's more folk...but still) etc.

So why not appreciate both?

I could never live without music, it is my life in a sense, but I don't have any favourite bands to speak of. I used to, but then my standards must have gone trough the roof or something, so no band is applicable as of now.
