A friend of mine wants to purchase MS Frontpage cheaply, and found these couple of sites.

Anyone else know about them, if the products are legitimate? Apparently the product cannot be registered with the manufacturer and has been sourced from some kind of auction of old stock.

They have no physical address or phone number.

Unfortunately these "OEM" sites are just some guys selling pirated software. Back when I was a kid I fell for one of those stupid scams for Photoshop 7. 50 Bucks, how can I lose!

Actually, the best deal is not just being a student, but being a student of DeVry. MS software was free for me!

True, my Uni registered us with Microsoft's Academic Alliance so we were entitled to tonnes of free software including Office, Vista, Visual Studio, and a bunch more.

Man I have MSDNAA, and the one thing they don't have over there is Office! I mean there's visual studio, Windows Vista, XP, Server 2008, heck even OneNote and Access, but not the office apps I really care about!

I doubt very much you will be able to buy Frontpage legitimately any more. It was discontinued near the end of 2006. For Web design MS now have a couple of packages available. If your Web server is running Sharepoint then you should use Sharepoint Designer, if not then they now want you to use Expression Web instead.

Also, if you need to get by without MS Office, try out openoffice. I use that at home
