Hey,,,

I'm looking to buy a distortion pedal for my guitar that is fairly good but not too expensive. Im fairly good with a guitar but i'm not great on all the effects stuff . I'm aiming for anything between £30 and £70.

Thanks,,,

I got one of those under £100.

Try looking out for a "DigiTech RP80 Modeling Guitar Processer".

I realy like it, it has 80 presets, completely editable distortion, wawa peddle, drum machine with over 20 beats.

Excellent value.

I have a digitech bass pedal, with a drum machine, 40 preset sounds, and apparently you can program your own in, which I have yet to explore, for 75 USD or so, so anything like that would probably be good.

I don't need pedals have i have a Peavey Vypyr, awesome bedroom amp. But i do have a BOSS DS-1 distortion pedal. Its not bad considering i paid 20 quid for it, i've heard bad things about them before but its a solid pedal.

Thanks everyone,,,

great advice... I think I will probably go for the Boss DS-1 since Its pretty cheap and some pretty decent guitarists have used it (John frusciante for 1 ) and reviews are pretty.

Unless someone knows a reason why I shouldnt buy it, it think I will.

Thanks,,,

The Pocket POD is a very versatile piece of kit. You might want to look into it as it fits your price range. Only real disadvantage is the abysmal battery life but otherwise I heartily recommend it.

You beat me to it I've got the POD 2.0, which is a beast, for recording, or just jamming in general I would say save your pennies and buy the 2.0 version or higher

Have a look at OS-2 Overdrive-Distortion by Boss as well.

A good site to get reviews on products is http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/

I think you should look into as many products as possible go to a shop and play with them. Forget this and that artist says they are good as they are being paid to say it. Get what you feel sounds better to you. Also look at how hardy the thing is. This is more dependant on your playing style.

My personal view on boss is they are simple but built like small bunkers. So they will no brake in a gig. However they use a 9v battery and you should replace this before going on a gig they loss alot of the pitch and effect on a low battery.

I'll add something later on.

I've got three different Danelectro Distortion boxes, OverDrive, Distortion and Metal. I got them for 15 bucks a piece, and I dig the sound.

You can usually find BOSS peddles in the used shops for decent prices. I have a Zoom 505, lots of effects that you can mix together and customize.
