revised to try to make it easier to read

Hey
i'm looking to get a new laptop for programming/modeling/photoshopping etc
this means obviously it will need a fair amount of specs so i can run the applications to program/model etc and also be able to compile game/applications i create (if any lol)
i don't want to spend loads of pounds on specs for high end gaming either.
i would want to know what sort of laptops people would advice because i'm not sure what i should get.
i don't plan to use the laptop for any serious gaming mainly because i got my ps3.
any help would be great

thanks

Is it strictly necessary that it be a laptop?

Seeing as you're wanting one for schoolwork and it doesn't need to be terribly powerful, I'd advise you go for a ruggedised, reliable model in favour of higher spec.

I've used eBuyer to buy a cheap pc before, I didn't have any problem and their prices seem reasonable. Here's a link to the laptop section for you can have a browse through. http://www.ebuyer.com/search?store=5&cat=10
I wouldn't want to make any specific recommendations without spending a bit of time looking at what's available but there's a few laptops in your price range.

As with all online retailers there are people who have had a negative experience with ebuyer but even if you don't want to buy from them it still gives you a few ideas as to what's available.
