Can't say a whole lot without seeing it running or playing it but... graphics look nice, and it's got a Chaparral 2J in it. So so far looking pretty freaking awesome. Look forward to seeing more.

Reminds me a lot of the original Midtown Madness. Start a cruise, drive forwards until you're clear of that white building on the right and you'll see what I mean.

Wait a sec, why is there a giant robot?

Just thought what else it reminds me of; there was some dodgy (but actually brilliant) Japanese racer for the PS2 called Road Trip Adventure. The whole game looked like that but in fact it was a huge RPG with loads of side quests... in which you played as a car.

giant robot is mazinger z, just a cameo in a track.
the game is like mario kart, but with old car glories instead of karts.
you don't need any drive ability, only race, crash with other cars, shoot them, fire missiles and use bonuses.
win races and you will earn money and points.
with points you'll unlock tracks and cars, with money you can buy and tune up cars. really easy to play. (and really huge... actually is 60 mb uncompressed, lots of bmp for textures...)
