Very impressive! However, I could not change screen resolutions. It would crash with a "sound already exists" error, and when I restarted the GUI was scaled to the new resolution but the window was at the old resolution

I have yet to play with anyone online. Will try later today, it looks like it should be quite fun. One thing - you should fix the mouse in Windowed mode. I kept moving it out of the game screen

Yeah, I wanted to play in full screen but I couldn't. I think you should make full screen the default.

This looks pretty good. You have to restart the game for the settings to take effect. I made a mistake DL and left some feedback on your WIP board.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the constructive feedback.

Quote: "Airslide: However, I could not change screen resolutions. It would crash with a "sound already exists" error, and when I restarted the GUI was scaled to the new resolution but the window was at the old resolution "

Yes I forgot to mention that changing resolutions only works outside of the game not in game as you may have noticed.

Quote: "Airslide: you should fix the mouse in Windowed mode. I kept moving it out of the game screen"

Yes, I know what you mean, I will fix this in the future version. Works fine in exclusive mode though, not sure with dual monitors though.

Quote: "Vorg1: But the guns sound way underpowered especially the glock, m4, and shotgun."

Yes, I noticed that on some weapons. It may be just a matter of amplifying the sounds a bit. I will work on this for the future version.

Quote: "Vorg1: This is Bloodshed Tournament so the guns should sound very powerful. Also I have a very good comp and the framerate was very unsteady even on medium. 250-3."

To gain the best preformance it is recommended to change the screen mode to exclusive in the options screen.

Hey DL187,

This is absolutely fantastic work, I know you've been working on this for a long time and it's visible in the level of polish on everything!

I do have some criticisms, hopefully they are constructive enough to help you with developing your game:

1) Bunnyhopping is extremely effective and can increase your movement speed significantly, maybe even too significantly. I discovered this after about 2 minutes of fooling around in my empty server, so I imagine it's there by design, but I can already foresee people whining about this I for one, love fast movement and timed jumping in games, so this is not really a criticism but a warning.

2) Gun selection is a bitch, and a bit buggy. When I scroll my mouse wheel the game seems very choosy about when to respond and when not. This would be very irritating in a moment of action. I suggest providing hotkey access to weapons (so I can setup in the controls that when I press 1 I instantly get my primary weapon, etc).

3) Joining the game from spectator mode was not clearly explained. Most FPS games when you join a server immediately open a team selection window, but it took me nearly 2 minutes to figure out I had to press escape and goto player-> switch. Either label this (press hmhm and hmhm to join the game) or have a key bound to it (press space to join the game).

4) After joining the game for the first time my weapon was very buggy, it wouldn't let me choose another one, and when I tried to, it took away the melee hammer and left me stuck with no weapons. I had to go to spectator and back to get it working.

5) The game runs at about 150fps here (amd athlon x2 4200, nvidia 9800gt, 2gb ram, windows XP) but every 2 or 3 minutes it freezes up for about 2 seconds, and then unfreezes, sometimes causing my player to jump several meters in the air.

6) As was previously mentioned, the weapon sounds are weak, especially the grenade.

I hope you don't mind all these criticisms, I just want to help you improve on the already very impressive work. Also congratulations for finally releasing!

Now, is there anybody in Europe who's not behind a router willing to host a game? I can't wait to try out some real gameplay

I can't seem to get it to work - I've got two computers behind a router, and can test multiplayer games (made in DBP) fine most of the time. But for some reason it insists that they aren't responding, which makes me figure they aren't hosting the game properly. Each computer has a different firewall and both aren't blocking but...are there any console commands that could help debug the issue?

Hey guys,

Quote: "Draknir_: Bunnyhopping"

Yes, I love fast paced action as you may have noticed, but yes I do realize that is not big on some peoples list

Quote: "Draknir_: Gun selection"

Thanks for the reminder, it crossed my mind. I'll be sure to include that in the next version.

Quote: "Draknir_: Joining the game"

You have a valid point, It may not be as helpful as it should be in pointing out how to join the game. I will address this issue in the next version

Quote: "Draknir_: After joining the game for the first time my weapon was very buggy..."

Do you recall which weapon selection you made initially?

Quote: "Draknir_: The game runs at about 150fps here (amd athlon x2 4200, nvidia 9800gt, 2gb ram, windows XP) but every 2 or 3 minutes it freezes up for about 2 seconds, and then unfreezes, sometimes causing my player to jump several meters in the air."

Yes, that would be the server trying to get in contact with the master server. You can initially disable this via the console with sv_master_contact 0 but you won't be broadcasting your IP.

Quote: "Draknir_: As was previously mentioned, the weapon sounds are weak, especially the grenade."

I couldn't agree more, not sure what is causing that issue especially since the sounds sound okay when played from within the folders.

Quote: "Draknir_: I hope you don't mind all these criticisms..."

Not at all, they are very welcomed, Thanks again

Quote: "Airslide: I've got two computers behind a router..."

The host cannot be behind a router for public games, although it should work fine for LAN games.

Thanks again guys

That's what I figured. But the problem is, it won't connect, even on LAN

I messed with it for awhile before giving up. I may try again after I reset my router.

Thats odd, same Network right? Try net_port in the console
and change the port on each computer from there then give it another whirl.

Hey guys, I noticed a few of you guys connected to my server. Sorry that I was away at that time. I will be running a server tomorrow all day too. I would be to get at least 4 or 5 people in there at one time to test. If you guys give me a time frame of when you can be on or maybe we can set up a time to play, that would be great. Thanks!

Hey guys,

I have just released an updated version of the beta demo release. This one should address some of the issues stated and should be a little more stable.

BTW I will leave an overnight server on again tonight for any of those who want to check it out.

@Mr2Fa$t: Where are you hosting from? I get about 120 ping to your server so I'm guessing east coast USA? I suggest we play today and/or Sunday night at 10pm GMT, thats 6pm in the east coast. That way we can get people from the US and europe playing at the same time.

Yes, I've from East Coast USA. I can be play later tonight and pretty much anytime tomorrow. A few people stopped in the server early today, unfortunately I just missed them. In the mean time, I will continue to have a server running all evening until I get home. Feel free to come on in if you can find someone else to play in there.

Also, my MSN address is: mdkmr2fast@hotmail.com if you anyone wants to add me. It my be easier to communicate this way.

Hopefully we can get some good gameplay action going here soon!

Well today I managed to get in a few minutes of gameplay on Mr 2fast's server with DL187, but my PC didn't cooperate, crashing me out of the game repeatedly (it has to do with my hardware, not the game). Testament to DL187's netcode that the server handled it perfectly. Tomorrow I'll be trying to fix my PC so I can hopefully play along tomorrow evening.

I joined Mr2Fa$t's server and got a ping of only 90 from across the United States I usually get around 150-200 on west-coast servers when playing Counter Strike (granted, more information is probably involved, and nobody else was on).

I hope I'll eventually run into someone to play...so far no luck

Hey folks,

Just wanted to let you all know that a new patch is comming up with fixes for more than 45 Issues including the ability to host behind a router. The patch should available by Saturday evening. This patch may even take the demo out of the beta stage unless a large issue arises.

By the way, has anyone been able to play the current version online with another person?

The patch sounds good, but I haven't played with another person. If we can schedule an exact time and date for a game to be held, we'd get a lot of people playing to give it a thorough test.

Hey guys,

Version 3.23 is out now. It has a variety of fixes [Over 100]. It should be relatively stable so give it a go. You will now be able to host games behind routers.

You must forward/unblock Ports [Router & Firewall]
3998 and 3999 UDP

followed by the following console commands

sv_lan_mode 0
sv_master_contact 1

Any questions let me know
By the way, check the first post on this topic for all the current console commands.

Roka, Thanks for the feedback.

Wow, finally a game that looks great and doesn't lag! There are a few problems, though:
WASD can't be used, only arrow keys by default
You can't jump
Some minor collision bugs
Grenades are way too quiet

Other than all that, it's awesome! I wish I weren't behind a router so I could host a proper server.

WINNER list:
Latch, Lee Bamber, TDK, TheComet
Thanks for the help!

Thank you Thraxas

I've uploaded a new video of some gameplay footage and I am uploading the new build "Build 3" as I type this. I am hoping to do a series of updates to the beta demo until I can get it stable enough to call it a demo. It's pretty good as of now, seems to be running alot better. I have not been able to fully test it out as my friend and I were the only ones testing it the majority of the time in development.

Anyways heres the new video and I will be updating the first post.
** Just a heads up both videos on here contain blood and gore footage.**

Hey there, thats the hosting console. After getting that screen you will need to open another instance of the game and join your game from the server list or through the console. I am working on an ingame playable host option in a further build as having 2 instances running does have the potential to slow down older systems.
