Well, I will not be thanking you for the rest of my life, but it was OK so I will not forever curse the day I was born.

Perhaps you just built it up too much. LOL There was some very good action and the story wasn't bad, but it just wasn't all that and a bag of chips. What unfolded in the last half of the movie was very old school and could have been done better. The ending was quite cool (hot) though.

I've always liked Nicholas Cage, but as someone said earlier, he doesn't have a lot of reach. If he does have more, then it's a shame that he's been typecast to this type of character. Luckily, he does the type well.

Thanks for the heads up. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Best.

Me too. Which is one of the reasons I was so disappointed. I really thought he did a good job in the National Treasurer movies and in Next. But ... ugh... he just was so corny. I think it was more of a director problem then it was Cage.

Con Air was dreadful as well. I didn't mind that Nic Cage movie where he had terrible OCD, but that was the last good one I've seen.

And then there's his ridiculous hair.

Cage as the bad guy just does not work in my opinion. I can't take him seriously. I even had issues with him in Ghostrider. It was still pretty good though.

Well just went and saw it. It was one of those movies that tries too hard to be two things, the first bit is a very down to Earth disaster / supernatural film. However as the movie progresses the storyline gets more bizarre until we end up with religious imagery. It was still a good film, the last bit was alright, but
. Alright, but not up there.

Matchstick Men is the only Nicolas Cage film I've ever enjoyed, and the trailer makes this one look ridiculously cheesy.

"What happens when the numbers run out!?!?!"

I guess I'll watch it eventually, but maybe I'll just choose to curse the day I was born

Seriously, I was crapping bricks at certain parts of the movie...

No lie... I just never watch Horror, and this wasn't even considered horror.

EDIT: I was expecting more of the disasters throughout the whole thing... Rather than then the obvious ones that happen during the previews of the commercials.

I just saw the movie

It was really great

The whole movie had a sort of "Revelation" kinda feel to it, it was probably the best movie I've seen in a while.

Spoiler

Overall, I'd give this movie a 8.5/10, because there were some dull parts, but 90% of the movie kept me interested.

i just saw the movie. very disappointing. the movie at first was going well, but then they had to ruin it with Angels and Space ships. the big blowup was at the end, when the children arrived to HEAVEN! that's a real BOOOH! it's totally a waste of time!
The movie would've been better if they kept it domestic (inside this world). A girl who had a gift of predicting the future. and couldn't complete the codes (that's when her teacher pulled the paper from her) and Nickolas Cage kept searching for this woman after 50 years to complete the code which could save the world. that could've been more better than this suck up.

Saw the movie. Much better than I was expecting because I heard it was horrible. It was anything amazing, but it definitely wasn't bad.

It was however, very strange, which is probably one reason a lot of people didn't like it. At parts you kind of have a WTF? feeling. A lot of people also might not have liked it because
. There are also quite obvious biblical allusions, so the people who, for some reason, can't tolerate or are offended by any religious imagery, should not see it.

It was also much creepier and intense than I expected. I don't see many scary movies, so it was one of the creepier movies that I've seen in a while. The disaster scenes were pretty intense (ones of the best scenes in the movie is the plane crash, especially watching in theaters, it felt quite real. The entire disaster part all in one cut is also cool).

Overall, it was a bit too strange and not what you would expect from trailers, so don't go into it with high expectations and go expecting more of a fantasy drama than anything else, and you might not be as disappointed. I give it 75/100.

This whole movie was well made. Good premise, but the ending seemed too out there to fit with the rest of the movie. Far too fantastical than the rest of the movie. However if you have a good knowledge of the Bible you'll see many parallels to prophecies of the end of the world
. I still think it was good, even if the ending was almost too out there for the rest of the movie. The disaster sequences were amazing. The plane crash was awesome in that I actually started to feel like I was sort of there. Feeling remorse for the people. Wondering what on earth you can do to help them as John was probably feeling. It was really well done.

@Jeku, sorry dude! it's just i was a little pissed at that moment, and i felt like i was in a psychiatrist clinic talking to my shrink. i had to let it off my chest

i agree with Agent Dink. The CGI was amazing in this movie. specially the super flare at the end.

speaking of super flare, did anyone see the program that Cage was using when checking out the sun's flares. that's an amazing piece! when i saw that part, i had this urge inside me to just open that DARKBASIC program and start programming. well, i didn't! my wife called me that time
but Dark Basic would do it easily to program such an application. ofcorse ur gona need an uplink to connect to 1 of the satellites that are monitoring the sun. ok! i'm starting to get that urge feeling again...

I didn't like the change of settings in the movie either. And the one thing I didn't get was why the kids had rabbits. What was with that?

And the different events he noticed with the numbers were so easy to guess. Who would've thought the first one he'd notice would be 9/11?

Not me

Omega, this film was horrible. Like, it was actually a bad film.

Yeah, it was good up until the point of
. Nicolas Cage saved that movie from failing horribly. He really is a superb actor, and despite the movie plot sucking, he still drew me in.

ya know maybe if the movie had a more fantasy-alien-biblical feel from the begining and moreso expected it would have done better XP

It sounds like you guys deliberately shoot down everything Nicholas Cage does. I personally enjoyed the National Treasure movies, and Knowing. And Con Air.

Though the ending was pretty WTF-worthy.

Course not, National treasure 1 and 2 and Con-Air were good

everyone likes Nick. but hasn't anyone realized that his last movies are getting a little more supernatural. (Next, Knowing). not to say he's not suitable for these kinds of movies. it's just that he's goin deeper in these kinds of movies.

I think I liked it. Quite happy to see a movie that kind of breaks away from normal endings, although the whole
ending was a bit overdone.

Besides that, acceptable story, great special effects and reasonable acting. I can't say I disliked Cage's performance. Heck, its not great, but he does the job adequately.
