Hey guys,

I was recently set a task by my English teacher: Do/make something interesting to do with the book you are currently reading. I was puzzled as to what to do. Other friends were making movie posters, features for magazines, and my best friend was making Top Trumps of the characters from the book he was reading.
I just couldn't think of what to do! I thought of what I do best. Drawing?
Writing?
Interviewing?
Reviewing
Making the first ever game of a book? }
Now there's an idea!

So, since....this morning...I have been trying to make a game of a part of the book. Due to the ..ahem..limitations of FPSC, I had to choose a part which would work well, obviously not a car chase or anything.
Anyone who has read the book will know of the part when Charles Henderson and Marc go into the hotel to kill Mannstein, but it goes a bit pear-shaped, and that's what I've chosen. If this is a success, then I think I'll make more games on different parts, and/or different books.

So, here are a few screenshots:

This is Charles Henderson, and he follows you around in the game. Unfortunately, I can't get a suitable free script which makes him attack the enemies, but he does follow you.

This door can be opened by shooting at it, almost like what Henderson does in the book!

This is a snippet from the book, which is what happens in this section.

So there's your lot. I hope you can provide positive feedback.

Best
Shiv

P.S. This game will probably be only a level or two, because
this project is due in on Tuesday! Eep!

Cool, thanks, I'll give it a go.

EDIT: It doesn't work! The character's just stay still, and so do the enemies! Oh no!
Please can someone help, and see if I have done something wrong?

Right...
I'm not going to be disheartened by the lack of people posting, so here's a clip of news.
I want this game to be more realistic than others, meaning that you have a little bit of health, meaning that the AI can kill you in a few shots, but so can you.
Due to hockeykid's script not working, I have made Henderson heal you with the medic script from Explosys' exxcelent site, FPSFree.

Tell me what you think,
Shiv

Actually i wouldn't mind making a ally script special for your game.

I really like the idea of using a book to create a game. Nice to see some originality, and it's looking good.

@hockeykid: That would be fantastic, and it would really help. You don't have to rush it, and I think I will add a few more levels to the mix, to add depth.

If you could make me a script, then some of the things which would be nice would be:
1)Follow and shoot at enemies with different names( I am trigger spawning enemies)
2)Heal the player

These would be nice, but if they are not possible, then don't worry.

@halfpastundead: Thanks for the positive feedback.

Best,
Shiv

WHY DID YOU HAVE TO REMIND ME???

This is looking nice; very original idea (not the story, basing it off of a book)

Some people say that I'm crazy... And I agree.

Right, hi guys.

I have made a decent demo of a section of the book. It should be available to download [href=http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=c66c6868e1b704fcd9d5c56d04dfa8b049c22b88a190e9545621d66e282a0ee8]here[/href]
Enjoy the demo and please contribute feedback.

Best,
Shiv
