It's a Dell laptop

Intel® Pentium® Dual Core T3400 (2.16GHz/667Mhz FSB/1MB cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition SP1
4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz
320GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330
8X CD / DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)
Integrated 1.3 MP Webcam
6-cell battery

$799.00 (CAD) or $634.35 (USD) or (438.65 GBP)

Does anyone have exeprience with this type of setup overheating and destryoing me? Is this any good? It's as high up as I could go under $1000

Thank you!

Overheating? Which brand? Meaning, who's making this laptop?

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go with HP... For laptops... Unless it's nice and cool all day and evening where you live...

I'm not a fan of HP laptops either. So which brand is it?

Your mother has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120

The only thing I like about HP laptops, is that it keeps my hands warm in the cold winter.

That is extremely good value for money, most laptops i find at 400 quid are half as good as that, and my desktop(which are generally cheaper) cost me 600 quid for not too much more than that...

That's because he's not buying it in the UK. You can pretty much garuantee that through a combination of price inflation that magically happens every time something is sent across the seas and tax that it'd be at least £600 here.

Well it's actually on sale for $200 off until April 4 so it seems good value. The reason I asked about it here is because it initially only comes with an on-board video card but I added the custom option of having the ATI card so I am worried that would overheat the system.

The only thing I would suggest is upping the battery a little bit - you'll never regret getting a better battery, especially since they cost an absolute bomb to upgrade or replace once you've purchased

I bought a similar spec under 1 year ago in the UK and it cost £700.

Dell's a pretty good brand. My cousin has had the same laptop from them for a while and it still runs fine.
