Being a large fan of music, especially music I haven't heard of, I thought this was pretty cool. Basically, Gnoosic recommends bands based on three bands that you like. I haven't really thoroughly checked this out yet, I've used it but not as much looked into the bands via it.

The other part is the Music Map, by the same website. This gives you a visual view of the probability that you will like different bands based on one band that you type in. Bands are displayed by text, the bands closest to the band name you originally typed in are the ones most likely for you to like simply based on the band you typed in. I've had decent results with the map

Gnod also has stuff for books and movies if you go to the

That's pretty cool, found a couple I've never heard of already.

Last FM, yes, is better, but a couple of bands I haven't heard on Last FM showed up on here.

I know there are already good ways to find new music, I use Last.FM as well. But like Sepp, I've found a few that Last.fm never suggested to me. It's not meant as a replacement for other services, more of an additional source for anyone who loves music

I have a non-US account and the app's scrobbling and radio works fine for me, as well as the webpage.

Okay, looks like they announced fees and then changed their mind for the time being.

Well I pay the 3 bucks a month and I live in the US. I love it, it allows me to play all my "loved" songs. I got like 120 songs that I listen to all the time and add to when I come across good new ones

From Last.fm:

Quote: "In the US, the UK and Germany we’re publicly beta testing our free listening service called “Free On-Demand”, which allows you to listen to most tracks up to three times for free. When the beta is over, we’ll offer a different subscription package with unlimited access to our music catalogue."

At the moment a subscription just gets you a few extra benefits like jerico mentioned.

As a subscriber I'm still limited to just 3 listens. The subscriber benefits don't included an unlimited "free on-demand" program. However, the songs that are restricted are maybe half or so of all the songs I've tried to listen to individually (it's up to the artist if they want it restricted it seems).

That said, the limit does *not* apply when you're listening to a list, either a list you create, a loved tracks list, or their radio stuff. So I can put my favorites in the loved tracks list and listen to all my favorite music an unlimited number of times.

I also get to listen to other people's "loved" tracks, which is kinda neat, and I bet most people don't realize it.

I also get no ads throughout the site. I can see who's visited my profile in the last month (which might be available to everyone?). I also get a badge that makes me feel superior to all you freeloaders.
