Hi, basically Im a year into my GSCE's and I chose:

ICT
Drama
Art
Spanish

I just wanted to know what A levels (If I pass my GSCE's lol) would I need to go onto Game Programming. I also hope I chose the right GSCEs for the job. I would obviously need ICT and I was told English however I'm not sure about maths or art? What do you guys think?

Thanks

Jack

I'm not sure if it's the same where you go to school, but in my school, IT or ICT is basically "learn how to use MS Word". The "real" computer-subject is Computing: you learn about algorithms, the structure of the CPU, you do a bit of coding etc. Make sure you investigate that before you pick one for your A-Level.

Math is probably the most important, even more important than ICT I'd say. Not just A-Level though, really you need to be able to expand on your math skills so concentrating on them now is a good idea.

Physics is pretty handy too.

In IT I'm learning HTML,PHP,JavaScript, css and all the learn how to use MS Word. Well its not game programing but at the end i get coding experience.

Definitely maths if you can, computing, and maybe Physics.

That said, a lot of the unis I visited (Durham, Birmingham and Warwick) expressed a lot of interest in worded analytical subjects along with Maths (English Lit, History etc.) that prove you can actually write coherently/logically in something other than equations or code.

I assume it's not 'expected', but if you can't afford to fill out all your choices with maths and sciences and need a humanities subject, go for an analytical one over anything else (I'm doing History at A2, and that forms part of my offers for CompSci/SoftEng)

yep:
Maths, Physics, Computing, and another if you're going to do 4 A levels.
I can recommend a language - if you're doing spanish gcse you may want to consider doing it at A level too. Uni's *really* like people who have studied foreign languages, esp because very few people seem to do so nowerdays. It's a good skill to have. I studied German at A-level and I think it helped me get into a good uni. You should also have a very good grasp of the language after 2 years of learning a language which is
good anyway
