I can recommend Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Gears of War 1 & 2 and Castle Crashers.

Are you sure you don't want a WII? I never really liked the XBox 360... It has an annoyingly loud fan in it, and the games aren't the best(may just be me).

And, you could just buy a XBox 360 controller with a USB, download the XBox 360 emulator and save some cash, couldn't you?

The XBox 360 is basically a Microsoft computer, only with a bigger processor and better specs. So why pay for a new computer if you already have one?

Except for the fact that no XBox 360 emulator exists?

Console Emulation usually requires a computer 2/3 times more powerful than the console itself - however, if you do not own the console it is illegal. My laptop would not be able to handle such an emulator if one did exist. also if one did exist, at this stage it would be buggy.

The games, however, are ones that attract me and as for a loud fan, I'd have no problem with it, I really am not that fussy.

As for the Wii, my brother has one, it's a laugh, but not many games on there that I'd actually want to play - I've only found myself using it for Guitar Hero.

A WII is really a second console I think, it's got completely different games to the PS3, PC and 360. I rarely play the WII, but play the 360 a lot, probably play the PC the most - Battlefield Heroes mostly.

Looking forward to BF 1943 on the 360, that should be more fun than BF BC at least.

No.. it's.. not. I hate when people say this. It's no more a PC than a PS3 is a PC The Xbox was a Pentium chip, the 360 is a RISC processor.

I'm glad you posted this, I was just about to as it bugs the hell out of me! There is precious little inside the 360 that you'd find in a PC. Those who expect PCs to be able to emulate a 360 flawlessly are living a pipe dream.

Especially since we're dealing with two completely opposite CPU architectures, little and big endian.

I've got it! I bought it from GAME with a 3-year cover and Fable 2, I got the 60gb HDD Premium.

Though I do have a question, how do I connect it to my wireless network? Do I need to buy something for it, or am I just a fool that can't work out where the Wireless settings are? (The modem is too far away for my ethernet cable to reach)

Don't quote me on this, but i'm fairly sure you need a wireless adapter for the 360.

Yes you need a wireless adapter which is rather annoying.

Likewise attacking the chickens in some of the Zelda games.

[Edit]

I take it that I can't use the ethernet cable through my laptop to connect? I've set up Windows Media Centre through it, so is there any way to take advantage of my laptop's wireless card?

Seppuku, just BTW: Since you can play on PS3, do you have a PSN account (and do you mind sharing it?)? Or you just play on someone else's account?

Not sure about this but since the 360 (obviously) has ethernet I'd say just try it out. Might just as well work.

I use my own account, Seppuku05, I'm rarely on as I live in my own student house and my parents' home - the PS3 is theirs, I usually use it for Little Big Planet and FarCry 2 - which are both good fun online.

I tried it, but it wouldn't get an IP address, I tried again with my firewall off, still no internet connection, so I suppose it's really only for connecting to Windows Media Centre.

Ah bugger, I really do think that the 360 could've had wireless connectivity built in, they could've at least released some sort of update that includes it.

I would have thought so, but what the hey, It'll probably be cheaper for me to get an extra long ethernet cable as I wouldn't mind reaping in some of the Live benefits.

Anyway, I love the dog in fable 2, he's an awesome little fellow, and well I am glad that people recommended the game, so far I am quite liking it - it seems to be well designed.

Ah yes, I was actually surprised at how life-like they made the dog, not only were the animations rather great but I actually ended up building up quite a bond with the guy.

You should be able to use the wireless internet connection from your laptop if you bridge the connections. http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/wxpbrdge.html

I'll have a look at that thanks Ralph.

Alucard, yes, it has surprised me too - I've had pets in games before but nothing I could care about..I kind of felt sorry for my little mutt when he got hurt, I even gave him a doggy treat for finding me some treasure...I'm sure that makes me strange (well perhaps more strange)

I do the same things. So I guess you're not too strange. Or we're both strange... Either way's fine with me.

Yes, you *need* to get Live. It's free to get all the patches, demos, etc. for your games. Pretty much every single 360 game gets patched so it's a good way to get rid of the bugs

I've almost beat Fable 2 and I've yet to kick a chicken. I tried once but couldn't figure it out, and I did the ultra-bad scenario.

I bought a 360 a month or so ago. Still haven't connected it to live. The cable won't reach to the TV without being annoyingly in the way all over the floor. I'm a getting a new TV soon to put in a room that has an internet cable already in it, I'll hook it up to live when I move the 360 in there. I'll post my gamertag/name thing once I'm connected.

One game that is definately worth a rental at least is CoD 5, for one reason: Nazi Zombies. It's pretty damn good.

To be honest, I've never seen the point of Nazi zombies, it seems like a wanna-be version of L4d or something. But that's just my impression. (I've never played Nazi Zombies though)

Well considering the two games came out at the same time or around the same time, it's not a ripoff. But it's still fun I found

I would suggest getting an xbox 360 over a ps3, although ps3s are more reliable xbox 360s are more fun to play(in my opinion) and thats the point of a gaming console, I have a PS3 and a Xbox 360 to be honest I haven't turned on my PS3 since December because of the lack of fun compared to the Xbox 360.

Nice long ethernet cables are real cheap, so you should buy one of those.

Personally I don't even like wireless controllers, never mind wireless networking - It's especially noticable on games like Rock Band, but when your using a wireless controller there can be timing issues. I think that using an ethernet cable instead of spending £60 or whatever it is these days, you'll get better pings and download speeds.

Fable2 is great huh!, I kicked the chicken at first then forgot how to do it . I had to remind myself how to do it on one of those face door, you have to kick 3 chickens into the mouth. I think that's the part with the beautiful winter scene, which I won't spoil for you.
My brother has played it to death, he's running around now armed with Halo weapons, dressed up as Elvis!.

That sounds awesome. I'll probably head dead to Wilkinsons next week or something to find one.

Toasty Fresh, I've got L4D on the PC and it is pretty awesome, the best part I think is the multiplayer, when you play versus you can play as the infected as well, that's the bit I find myself doing more because you've got to do some plotting, anticipate where they're going and jump out them for a surprise attack, I particularly like it when I'm the hunter.

@ Jeku, just walk up to the chicken and press 'A', or at least that's how I did it when the character's a kid.

I'm annoyed that they only distributed the Halo Armor in the LE version of it. I'm kicking myself in the shin that I didn't get it, all I have is the halo assault rifle

There's nothing wrong with the PS3 - okay I prefer the XBox 360 exclusivity and the price, but the PS3 is more stable, it's interesting to see my parents buy a PS3 and the person behind the counter not recommending extra cover, from the same shop, I bought my Xbox 360 yesterday and they strongly recommended it. I'm sure any XBox 360 user cannot deny that there is a bigger risk of it breaking down, XBox 360 users in this forum openly admit that - that's what extra cover and Microsoft's warranty takes care of, in case something happens. The PS3 comes with wireless built in, so that's £60 you'd need to spend extra on with a 360 (making the PS3 only £30 more expensive than the Elite with a wireless adapter). And it is quieter as rightly said (when people said the 360 was noisy, they weren't kidding, but it doesn't bother me at all, I've always had noisy PCs, so it's no different, at least with noise, it's easier to hear if something's wrong, as you would with your car).

As far as games go, that's up to the developers and marketing and not the console itself. Having played both, the two consoles aren't all the different, price, exclusivity and stability are the three main differences that jump out at me.

It seems very handy and saves me some money and invading my house mate's room when I go back to my other home on monday. (the only working line is in his room, so that's why we keep the modem there)

The XBox new experience download is quite cool, looks better than the setup you get by default, of course I've gone off on a demo downloading frenzy, so far I've checked out Resident Evil 5 (looks good, but ZeroPunctuation I think may have hit the nail on this one), Call of Duty: World at War (looks cool, is that Keifer Sutherland voice acting on there?), Blue Dragon and currently am downloading the Dead Space demo. Though I have restarted Fable II so I can nab the achievements under my XBox Live account.

I've also had the pleasure of discovering that I can play my own music instead of the game music, which I think is a considerate feature.

Me is pleased.

Huzzah! You bought a 360!

Its a shame Bill Gates isn't the commander in chief at Microsoft. He actually came round to personally shake your hand every time you bought a premium console.
I think now Steve Ballmer just hides on your roof and pelts you with kinder eggs with every premium or elite purchase... So I would watch out! He could already be there, in waiting.

You made a wise choice with Fable 2! COD:WAW is good as well. Very entertaining online.

My Xbox Live Gamertag is BiggAdd (No surprise there), if you ever want to have a few games!

I was wondering why there was a kinder egg in my back garden, the guy's a terrible shot.

I've added you mate. Fable II so far is brill, COD:WAW, the demo seems pleasing and I'll give the online part of the demo a shot and might consider buying it. I know my Dad loves the COD games (he's thinking of nabbing WAW for the PS3), in terms of difficulty how does it compare to COD4? He was asking me about WAW as he said he found COD4 easy.

Well, I'm a complete wuss so I only play on the EASIEST difficulty on everything (with the exception of Halo, legendary ALL the way), but even on the easiest I found W@W a LOT harder than COD4. I definately prefer CoD4 over W@W, although W@W has Nazi Zombies which makes it a tough decision.
