Geek Culture / After a lifetime of evidence to the contrary, I still occasionally judge a person's character from their appearance.

Shame on us all.

The only error I see in the title is "lifetime". Hopefully, not yet.

Best.

Yeah, that's the only error I noticed too.

Anyway, I try to desperately not judge a person off of their appearance, but it's hard sometimes, as what people where can often reflect their beliefs. Not that I'm judgmental, it just is what stands out to me.

that just changed my perspective on everything. I like to think of myself as being fairly open-minded, but that just blew my mind. Something about her voice.

I dont think were really judging her on her. Its just that she was amazing. More than what Id expect from any bum who thinks theyll make it big on one of those shows.

The error in the title in "Britains" when it should be spelled "Britain's."

I really wish i found this video before this thread, therefore i could have judged her b4 knowing NOT to judge her XP

now, in all seriousness, I will force myself to write "Don't Judge a book by its Cover" 100 times over. the little life lessons learned in the Forum's geek culture

my taste in music isn't weird, its just so amazing your ears haven't quite adapted to it yet.

Wonderful song. I knew she had something to give. Am I the only one who saw this coming?

I'll be the first to admit I shed a single manly tear.

Guess I'll have to be the second. You can tell at the end she didn't even see it coming.

I reacted quite oposite, I thought "you can do it"! Mainly because everyone seemed to be so judgemental (and because of the title on this thread, I assumed she would do great), so I just had to go the other way, lol. Incredible.

There is no greater virtue, then the ability to face oneself.

Ah, when I mentioned an error I was referring to the fact I'd said 'character' in the title when whether or not a person can sing has nothing at all to do with their character. Although there is still truth in the title it doesn't absolutely apply to the thread as I'm sure plenty of great singers have pretty horrible characters.

Yes, when this was on t.v.* the impact was stronger because there was no hint at all to what was going to happen. In all fairness this thread and the video description could give it away but the message is still there.

* Yes I watch trashy Saturday night television, don't judge my character.

It's true what they say, you can't judge a book by its cover - I've watched some Britain's Got Talent and there are some truly awful people - she herself look as though she could have been one, especially with the crowd laughing, though I wasn't laughing with them (it's awfully rude to do that, getting on stage isn't easy) however, she was very good at singing - it's good to hear people with talent on that show...especially when it's not one of those sob stories.
