No.
If you are to overclock your processor, you
must do it in BIOS, not by using an application.
Why? You get more control over what the processor will do, and you are able to overclock it more than the utility will allow.
Overclocking in general will make your warranty go out, so if you fry the cpu you'll have to buy a new one.
I recommend going to your motherboard manufactures forum and search for overclocking tips here. Most likely, someone who has the same processor as you have asked a question of what values to set so that it will run as stable as possible.
However, note that not all cpu's are identical, even though they are the same model. So if his cpu was able to overclock to 3ghz, it doesn't necessarily means that your will be able to as well.
