I recently got a new 2.5" SATA hard drive for my laptop. However, I can't use it - it's a WD drive, and uses some stupid "no negotiate" SATA-II tech which my laptop's motherboard doesn't understand.

So I researched a bit, and found that the two leftmost pins on the drive can be used to force it down to 1.5GB/s mode, which the motherboard will understand (SATA-I).

The big problem is, though: Where the heck do I get the jumpers? None came with the drive, and it's a 2.5" drive, so it takes very short, narrow jumpers (I tried putting other SATA/IDE ones in it, but they don't fit).

I would just jam the pins together, but that's not very electrically safe.

Any ideas?

I'd recommend buying jumpers online or try a used computer shop.
