Hi,

I was just wondering if there was a distribution system, such as Steam, for Indie game developers.

I don't mean the websites you can find on the internet, but more the Windows applications, with auto-updates etc

Cheers,
Bozzy

Not as far as I know, but there might be a spot for someone to take up that challenge Lately on Steam I've seen they added a ton of indie games, so perhaps they're getting the clue that indie games can be just as successful as a full commercial title.

http://www.playgreenhouse.com/ is a site founded by Penny Arcade which basically does what steam does. I think you'd have to be pretty professional to get on there, but it's worth a look.

Didn't someone come up with the steam sort of idea on this forum before steam came out?

I'm actually working on something similar to this concept now. I just moved to a new webhost, so now it's a matter of getting databases setup... etc. And then I'll post it up. Not only will it have game distribution but it'll have media as well. </shameless plug for GameXS>

From what I remember, LukasW made a system similar to steam, which worked pretty well! Don't know if he made it before Steam though.

I don't think it was. In fact I think he tried to make it resemble Steam.

I thought so! But like you say Jeku, Steam are taking note of the indie dev scene. You just need to make sure your games polished.

In fact I think a little while ago they opened a system which allows you to recommended indie games! I could be wrong though...
