On May 10th, MISoft is celebrating a "birthday," and on our forums we've been talking about having a "global lan party" to celebrate. We've decided on playing Battlefield 2, and are inviting everyone else to come play with us . If you don't have the game, it's pretty cheap now... about $10 in the US (at Best Buy) and around £7 in the UK.

I wasn't sure if I should post this because I didn't want it to seem like a blatent MISoft advert, lol, but it's not like we have a new game coming out that day, and we aren't asking people to visit our website or anything... just wanted to invite everyone to our party . We aren't even playing a MISoft game, lol. We still need to work out precisely what time the festivities will start, and we're not sure what server we'll play on, but we'll sort all that out soon, in this thread or our other one. Anyway, hope to see you all there.

WHEN & WHERE:
Please note that I'll be updating this post each time we switch servers.

Start Time: 4pm EST/ 1pm Pacific/ 8pm UK
Finish Time: 10pm EST/ 7pm Pacific/ 2am UK

CURRENT SERVER INFO:
24/7 Wake TNT
70.86.55.20
Port 16587

Sweet, you can count me in. Oh wait...May 10th is a Sunday, not the best day for me. Unless we could play anytime from 5-6 PM and later(Pacific time).

MISoft, MISoft, MISoft.

Oh wait, that's spam, I best say something to make this post relevant.

A good idea, I'll nab myself a copy of BF2. The good news is that my final Uni deadlines are May 6th, and whilst I should be working hard right now and not visiting these forums, I think it'd be a great way to celebrate (other than getting drunk on the 7th of course. )

My exams begin in June - and I should be revising then...

But I think I will conveniently forget that piece of information when the day comes!

Right, now I just have to find a copy of BF2, hehe.

I remember that game, I've probably got it around here somewhere...I would get bored and fly the helicopter to the highest point in the game, sniping people until they called an artillery strike on me.

BF2 is awesome, I've been addicted to Project Reality (best mod for any game, ever) lately. What time are you playing on May 10th? That's the day I am moving back home from college for the summer, so I may not be able to unless it's later that evening.

May 10th are you serious? That's the day 4 years ago I joined this forum!

Let me know the times and I should be there (Time difference from US to Australia could cause issues!), but I want a virtual beer from everyone! lol

I'd come along too if BF2 didn't have this bug that I cannot fix.

Whenever I jog (not sprint), it plays the sprint animation anyways. I might install it again if you could tell me the IP & whether or not Punkbuster will kick me.

By jog I meant the default speed (not sprint) while standing.

But I do need help with that bug.

As for punkbuster, there's a utility you need to run to prevent it from booting you. The files are called pbsetup (run once) and pbsvc (run it if PnkBsterB.exe isn't in your processes). I had that same problem for a while with all of my punkbuster games.

As for the other bug, that's odd, not sure what's causing that. Are you using a regular keyboard or some wacky magic bus board?

I'm using a regular keyboard and I fixed the sprint problem; just had to lower my video settings.

Yeah, for being an older game it still requires a good system to run, even by today's standards. I can't turn the video settings up too high, either :/

I need to scout and find us a good server to play on. Anyone have any suggestions? Map favorites? And also, are we going to squad up on different teams, or should we do a TGC co-op and eat up two squads on one side?

I remember having problems with Punkbuster too, when I played more frequently. I don't think I remember my Gamespy account either, come to think of it.

*Also, Matt: I replied on the MISoft forum, not sure how often you check there.*

I say we do a co-op. And I like Dragon valley and strike at karkand. (Just my opinion)

I guess the best way to sort out the time would be for me to dish up a random time period, and then see who can't make that, and adjust accordingly .

So, out on a limb, 1pm EST to 6pm EST? Six hours of combat enough for you guys? lol. Again though, that's open for debate and changing.

I'd be cool with that, I'd be able to come at the beginning, miss a few hours, and maybe at the end. But the people in europe would have it at 6-12, on a sunday...I don't know how that'd be for them.

Again, we could change the times though. It'll be hard to accomodate for Vader though, since he's in Australia . What's the earliest in the AM you could play Vader? Maybe we could push this forward a few hours and do it that way? And that might accomodate the west coast peeps as well.

Edit: Also, who has xfire? My xfire SN is Matt Rock (Maximuspt1)

The time is great for west coast - 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. I just won't be around, plus I don't own BF2 .

Have fun!

Sorry guys, my mom's been sick lately and just got out of the hospital for the third time . But yes, this is still happening, and we only have two days to sort out the times. Are we going with 1-6pm or did you guys have alternative time suggestions? Also, only a few days left to sort out what maps you want to play on. So far it seems like Dragon V. is getting the most "votes," hehe.

I can probably turn up for a bit, though I don't have it installed yet. What patch will the server be running? I see there's a new beta 1.5 and I'd rather not waste time and download it if no server uses it. Also, you should update the OP with the time details as it's annoying to have to scan through posts for the time range and then the time zone.

Alrighty, to help sort out the west coast players, and to make it a bit easier on myself as well lol, here's a time revision:

Start: 4pm EST/ 1pm Pacific/ 8pm UK
Finish: 10pm EST/ 7pm Pacific/ 2am UK

We'll start out on Dragon Valley, and we'll play there until we get bored, lol. When we switch to a new server, I'll alt+tab out of the game and update the first post in this thread with the new server info, for those people who don't show up right at the start. If you guys have favorite servers, this is the time to post their info and let us know . Here's the info for the first server. If you have a chance, stop by there later tonight (or early tomorrow) and check it out, to make sure you can get in and whatnot.

Server Name: TV2 - Dragon 2
Server IP: 193.160.156.173 16568

I'll put all of this in that first post, too. I hope these times work better for everyone!

Cool, I'll try it out tonight. I'll probably get there at around 5:30 (EST).

EDIT:

I'm there now just hangin out, if anyone else wants to join.

I had trouble with the IP, its actually: 193.160.156.173

I included the last few numbers lol.

Damn. I'm not going to be able to make it! Sorry guys and gals but I've got my first driving lesson in the morning (Oh and to the Mods, I can honestly say that I'm not the age you might be thinking lol. I've actually left getting my license for ages since I was able to!) and it's very early, so I'm going to have to give this a miss!

And I was so looking forward to it!
Have fun, and remember to pause for a minute, I'm celebrating 4 years as a member today!

I`ll be there, I`m not very good though but I guess I`m ok for cannon fodder.
Private: That occasionally happens to me(not the owning part!), used to happen a lot more on my XP machine, with Vista it happens less - I usually get a good few hours at the least though. Happens more often if I have been playing other games without a machine restart. I have 4G ram on this machine vs th 1G on the XP machine, I`ve put it down to that.

Edit: I`ve just been on the server but it keeps restarting the game partway through every round(kicking everyone so we have to rejoin). Hope its not like this later.

Well... I got BF2 and 1.41 installed but I get 343 ping from the server you picked which will no doubt lead to many a ping kick, and BF2 is so poorly coded that playing on any server over 200 ping is an amazing chore so count me out. Oh and I'd rather not stay up 'till 5AM to BEGIN playing.
