Every once in awhile I get this repeated high-pitched beeping randomly while I'm on the computer. It goes on for about 15 seconds then the computer shuts down. Naturally I searched up the beep codes for my BIOS (AwardBIOS) and every source I checked said that high-pitched repeated beeping means an overheated CPU, however I've been keeping CoreTemp open whenever I'm on the computer now and my CPU stays at about 35 C. Any ideas what's going on?

What kind of thermal paste did you get back when you had that thread about 'Computer Illiterate Parents'? I really don't know what could be causing it. Is your CPU overclocked?

No, it's not overclocked, and as for what thermal paste I used I have no idea.

My old PSU did that right before it died.

If you haven't done this already, back up every majorly important file (DBP projects and the like), just in case your computer dies like NeX's did. Then maybe take your computer case off and clean out the inside of your computer. Is your fan operating at 100% efficiency?

That's all I can come up with. Hopefully you can fix it!

Make sure the heatsink on your CPU is clean and that it's on the CPU *tight*. same with the fan on your video card

I have a high pitched beeping noise once in a while too, but my computer doesn't do anything when it happens. It sounds like a random screech my computer is making through the speakers. I don't think it's the hard drive scratching, I've heard that noise before and it's not the same. Really weird though... freaks people out sometimes.

About three years into this system's lifetime the onboard sound went and never came back. If you connect speakers up to it you get buzz, humm, hiss and screeches. Could be your onboard sound dying.

I've removed all the dust from the heatsink and video card fan, and the heatsink is tight on the CPU, so I guess I'll just wait and see now.

Is it definitely from the motherboard? I say this, because beeping noises can also be warning signals built into hard drives - Maxtor drives especially, use this strategy. It normally signals a temporarily stuck spindle or pressure problem inside the drive. So make sure it isn't your HD.
